According to the AHL website, the Rangers have sent J.T. Miller and Chris Kreider to the CT Whale. Coach John Tortorella expressed concern that the magnitude of the virtual playoff games the Blueshirts are playing right now might be too much for the two, so these transactions aren’t a surprise.
The moves clear over $2 million in cap space and ensure that both Miller and Kreider...
The Rangers have added Ryane Clowe. The now former San Jose Shark comes to the Rangers after he agreed to waive his no trade clause, per several media sources on twitter. Clowe will cost the Rangers a second round pick, a third round pick and also a conditional second that is dependant on him agreeing an extension with the Rangers or the team winning two playoff series this season...
Ryane Clowe and Derek Brassard: Welcome to New York. Brian Boyle: Welcome back. These three led the Rangers in the complete dismantling of the Penguins tonight, scoring a powerplay goal and at least three points each, and four of the Rangers first five goals en route to a 6-1 win. Boyle and Brassard had a goal and three assists each, and Clowe scored two (his first two of the season...
HARTFORD, April 3, 2013: Connecticut Whale general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Whale has signed defenseman Conor Allen to an Amateur Tryout (ATO) agreement.
Allen, who agreed to terms on an NHL free agent contract with the parent New York Rangers last Friday, recently completed his third season of Hockey East play at U. Mass-Amherst. The 6-2, 210-pound...
With the trade deadline approaching the Rangers felt like they needed to make a move to help give their offense a boost. An offense that currently ranks last in the NHL in goal scoring, and this is an offense with Brad Richards, Marian Gaborik, and Rick Nash. Three perennial all-star players who, outside of Rick Nash, [...]
With the Rangers trying to kill a 5-on-3, down 2-1 to the Jets last night and a home and home with the Penguins looming, the season was literally hanging in the balance.
So what did Ryan Callahan do? What any great captain does. He put the team on his back by doing this...
Here's Derek Stepan on the Rangers captain (via Blueshirts United)...
As the games get more and more important down the stretch, John Tortorella will also be looking to shorten the bench. Which was never more evident than with J.T. Miller (7:08) and Chris Kreider's (3:23) ice time during the Rangers 4-2 win last night.
Tortorella addressed that concern after the game...
"Quite honestly, I'm worried about the two kids. Not that...
Deadline day was a snoozefest until after 2:00, when all hell broke loose. Multiple reports indicate that the Rangers have agreed to send Marian Gaborik to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for C Derick Brassard, RW Derek Dorsett, D John Moore and a sixth-round pick.
Gaborik has agreed to waive his no-trade clause to complete the deal.
Brassard, 25, has seven goals and 11 assists...
Clowe? Not at the current price.
It’s that time of year again. That time of the year where everyone begins discussing who the Rangers will target, if they are buyers or sellers, who they are willing to give up, or if any deal will happen at the deadline. Today is one of those days where the hockey gods are laughing, as it is April Fool’s Day, and there are really bad jokes running...
As has always been the case at The New York Rangers Blog, we will have extensive coverage of all the trade deadline happenings tomorrow. But this year, we'll have a triple threat.
First, as I've done since the blog was created in 2007, I'll be doing a trade tracker throughout the day. Basically I'll be posting every trade and rumor out there as well as any Rangers...

The Penguins are in town tonight to open the first of a home-and-home with the Rangers. The good news: No Crosby, they just lost, and they are playing the second of back-to-back games. The bad news: They are still really, really good, and got better by adding Brendan Morrow, Douglass Murray, and Jarome Iginla.
But these are the new look Rangers. Marian Gaborik is...
The trade deadline is today at 3pm, and the Rangers have already been active. They’ve acquired Ryane Clowe for draft picks, and are rumored to be in on Ryan O’Byrne, a right handed defenseman form Colorado. Jamie McBain was a name rumored to be available, but with Joni Pitkanen getting hurt, it’s unlikely the Canes move him.
Use this as your open thread to discuss the deadline...
