When the lineup cards were released to the media, Adrian Gonzalez's name was penciled in.  He was set to make his customary start at first base.  However, not long before the game started Gonzalez was scratched.  The All-Star slugger is battling a skin infection that kept him out of yesterday's contest with the Milwaukee Brewers. According to Steve Dilbeck of the Los Angeles Times, Gonzalez has a skin infection on his lower right leg.  Gonzalez was taken to the hospital to have the infection examined, but the team does not think it is serious.  In fact, their original plan was to take Gonzalez to the hospital then have him available for the game says Dilbeck. Jerry Hairston Jr. got the start in place of Gonzalez.  Gonzalez has had a much better start to this season than last.  He is hitting .354/.427/.512.  He only has two home runs, but he already has seven doubles.  Gonzalez's OPS is over .900 and if it stayed that way, he would be back to his All-Star performance levels of the past. In his career, Gonzalez is a .295/.372/.507 hitter.  He made four-straight All-Star Games and won three Gold Gloves at first base.  After being traded from the Padres to the Red Sox, Gonzalez looked ready to break out.  Then in 2012, he slumped.  Gonzalez was linked to some of the turmoil in the Red Sox clubhouse last season and was shipped to Los Angeles as part of a blockbuster trade. Breaking down Dodgers' prospect Matt Magill's surprisingly good MLB debut

Matt Magill was pretty good in his Major League debut on Saturday night. His line: 6 2/3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, 101 pitches, 73 strikes Seriously, we couldn't have asked for anything more. He was in line for the win before Matt ...

Hanley Ramirez makes first minor league rehab appearance

Often the biggest step toward recovering from an injury is playing in a real game for the first time.  Los Angeles Dodgers' shortstop Hanley Ramirez did just that yesterday.  Ramirez played in his first minor league rehab game since injuring his thumb and ultimately undergoing surgery. Austin Laymance of MLB.com says Ramirez played with a splint on his thumb to avoid further...

Dodgers forced to send RHP Stephen Fife to DL with bursitis

The Los Angeles Dodgers may be on their way to setting a record - but not the good kind. On Saturday night they sent right-handed Stephen Fife to the DL with right shoulder bursitis and called up Matt Magill to take his place. The Dodgers' official site released the news on Saturday afternoon, just hours before Fife was due to make his start against the Milwaukee Brewers...

Dodgers fan himself catching three Matt Kemp homeruns in Dodger Stadium

One Los Angeles Dodger fan filmed himself catching not one, not two but three different Matt Kemp home run balls out in the stands of Dodger Stadium over the course of three years.  Okay, it was only during batting practice but it's still three souvenir balls. "Matt Kemp Dodger Films!"

Clayton Kershaw strikes out 12

Clayton Kershaw retired 18 consecutive batters and struck out 12 in eight dominant innings, Carl Crawford homered twice against Kyle Lohse and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Milwaukee Brewers 2-0 on Sunday. Brandon League's effectiveness, velocity down to start the 2013 season

Brandon League really hasn't endeared himself to fans or those who questioned the 3-year, $22.5 million contract he signed this winter with the Dodgers. He's currently worse than replacement level (-0.1 WAR) and not exactly inspiring confidence in his late-inning appearances. It's curious as to why that is. League has always had a good fastball, in terms of velocity...

Yasiel Puig Arrested for Reckless Driving

Top Dodgers' prospect Yasiel Puig was arrested Sunday morning for moving violations.

Brewers seek to even series in Los Angeles

The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers haven't fared too well at the plate against right-handers. Now they will face rookie right-handed starters they have never seen. It's hard to know what to expect in Saturday night's pitching matchup between the Brewers' Wily Peralta and Dodgers' Stephen Fife, with Milwaukee seeking to even this series at a game apiece...

Lohse hopes to continue success in LA

While he's often impressed at Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles ace Clayton Kershaw has also struggled in recent games there against the Milwaukee Brewers. The left-hander will try to end those woes while Milwaukee's ailing Kyle Lohse is hoping to continue his success in Los Angeles in Sunday's series finale against the Dodgers. Kershaw (2-2, 2.14 ERA) is 36-18 with a 2.32...

Rapid React (4/29): Crawford Righting The Ship

There’s no debating the fact that the last two years have been rock bottom for Carl Crawford, but it seems that he is back better than ever in 2013. He’s more patient at the plate, not strikeout out as much, surprisingly hitting for power, and aggressive on the basepaths. These are all good things, so let’s break them down piece by piece.Patience — Right now Crawford is being...
