The NBA lockout has paved the way for several “pick-up games” featuring the league’s best talent. For example, the Miami Heat trio organized a game they dubbed the South Florida All-Star Classic. It featured several NBA stars and gave basketball fans a little reprive from the labor ******** that will probably follow this sport for a few more months.

Taking advanage of the idea, former Kentucky Wildcat player Jeff Sheppard, organized a game at Rupp Arena that featured several NBA stars of present and past. The idea? Pit former Kentucky stars against some of their biggest villians. That included former Florida forward Corey Brewer, and Louisville player Terrence Williams. The coach of those villians? None other than the biggest villian of all time, Christian Laettner.

Laettner had fun with the Kentucky crowd, at one point he replayed his dagger against the Wildcats, only to get wrapped up by Kentucky coach, Rex Chapman before getting the shot off. While no reaction was given, I’m sure tires were slashed and houses were burnt as Kentuckians remembered one of the worst moments of their lives.

The Villians won in overtime behind Corey Brewer’s 32 points, but Kentucky’s Jodie Meeks stole the show with 42 points. Just a final note, Enes Kanter suited up for the Kentucky squad. If you recall, he was ruled ineligible before ever getting to step on the court in Lexington, with the NCAA having declared him to be a non-amatuer.

I’m sure we’ll see more games like this. In a few weeks Dwight Howard is putting on a current Magic vs. former Magic player game at UCF. Superstars are organizing pickup games across Europe. Yeah, don’t expect the NBA back anytime soon, if at all this year.
