Oregon 49 – 0 Arizona

The Oregon Ducks used a bevy of weapons and talent to overcome the Arizona Wildcats by the score of 49-0 at Autzen Stadium on Saturday night.

Oregon, who was facing what could be considered their first “true” opponent of 2012, showcased offensive and defensive prowess against a Wildcats football team that was trying to find their own college football identity.

After a rather slow first half that saw the Ducks put up just 13 points on the board, Oregon jumped all over the Wildcats in the second half as they used their unique offense and motivated defense to put up 36 second half points.

Over the course of the game the Ducks racked up 495 total yards while surrendering just 332, proving that they were the much better team on Saturday night.

Here are Oregon football’s love ‘em and hate ‘em from their 49-0 rout of the Arizona Wildcats.

Love ‘em

For all of the hype that it has received prior to the 2012 college football season, Oregon’s defense lived up to everything it was made out to be as they shutout an offensively stout Wildcats team that had been putting up great offensive numbers in 2012.

Using their speed combined with ability to pressure the opposing backfield, Oregon’s defense was all over the Wildcats on Saturday night.

Not only did they hold the Wildcats’ rushing attack to under 89 yards, the Ducks created five total turnovers, four coming on interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns.

Finally able to play a full game, Oregon’s defensive starters showed why the Ducks are by no means just an offensive team.
