Hollywood’s biggest party of the year took place this past Sunday in Beverly Hills, the 2013 Golden Globes Awards. Unfortunately I missed out on watching the prestigious event, but got a chance to read up on some of the winners, nominees, and a couple of fashion critics opinions on celebrity style for the evening, since fashion is a big part of the Golden Globes. I also spotted a few athletes who were in attendance for the festivities in chic attire. Take a look Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix looked elegant in her lengthy gown by Jason Wu. L.A. Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant suited up in traditional black and white hues, layering with a fur collar coat, and check out the $650 Ralph Lauren Collis velvet loafers. Olympic figure skater Evan Lysacek showed some style, as he spruced up his tuxedo, going with a sleek velvet blazer jacket and bow tie. Olympic Gold medalist Gymnast Gabby Douglas was all smiles as she dazzled in her gold strapless gown, and teammate Aly Raisman went with the “All black everything”  clothed in a deep v-neck frock. Cleveland Indians pitcher Nick Swisher rolled up on the red carpet with his wife Joeann, as he donned a sharp black/white custom suit. photos via fashionbomb/swaggernewyork /mamaslatina /Usatoday

Nick Swisher signing will backfire for Indians per Jim Bowden

The Cleveland Indians’ off-season acquisition of Nick Swisher is one of five moves that will backfire in the eyes of ESPN’s Jim Bowden. Though Swisher has been one of the most consistent players in the game over the last five years and replaces the wins lost in the trade of Shin-Soo Choo, Bowden feels that the Indians’ willingness to give the outfielder $14 million — on average...

Lakers Rumors: Lakers’ Kobe Bryant expected to take on bigger defensive role

According to ESPN, Kobe Bryant will be taking on a bigger defensive role as the Lakers’ defense continues to struggle. (Bryant) wants to take the challenge, and it really helps us.” “He [...] [[ This is a content summary only. Visit...

Bryant shines on offense, defense in Lakers' rout of Bucks

LOS ANGELES -- Give credit to the ice running through his veins for Kobe Bryant's offensive prowess in his 17th NBA season. He does, after all, lead the league in scoring. But Bryant credits something else for his defense on Milwaukee's Brandon Jennings, the reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Week, on Tuesday night. Still ice, just not in his veins. The Los...

Robert Horry rips into Kobe at event

Robert Horry laid into former teammate Kobe Bryant while speaking at the ninth Lakers All-Access event at Staples Center."When Kobe is on the weak side, he needs to start paying attention to where the ball is and not be flying around, thinking he's some stealth bomber where he can get steals nonstop," said Horry. The Lakers (17-21) have struggled this season as a team...

LeBron-Kobe: What could have been

Watch closely Thursday. Watch LeBron James continue to carry his team on the road, where they have struggled but he has been magnificent, game after game, day after day, his greatness still somehow expanding and crystallizing before us. Watch Kobe Bryant, too, as he tries to carry his floundering Lakers' squad by willing them and himself to places he can still go but now they...

Aging Lakers might be catching their stride

It was probably only a matter of time before the Los Angeles Lakers got healthy and figured it out. Tuesday night, the Milwaukee Bucks just happened to be in their way. A sluggish offensive night, missed free throws and turnovers gave the Bucks little chance to compete with a Lakers group that seems to be hitting their stride. Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard combined for 62 points...

The Starting Lineup: Kobe’s D Helps Lakers Achieve Win Streak

Kobe Bryant’s argument for the All-Defense berth he will inevitably receive can now be made on the basis of one game.  As the Lakers held the Bucks to just 35.8% shooting and 15 fourth-quarter points in a 104-88 victory, Bryant took the responsibility of checking Brandon Jennings, the Eastern Conference’s reigning Player of the Week.  It’s been no secret that the Lakers have...
