Bears quarterback Jay Cutler says he is not sure if he will play this week after missing Monday's loss at San Francisco because of a concussion. Cutler says on ESPN Radio's ''Waddle & Silvy'' show that he's feeling ''as normal as can be'' and will play again this season. But he ''can't say for sure'' he'll be ready for Minnesota this weekend. Cutler says he's ''going through the process'' to get cleared to return. He met Monday with the doctor and still has some ''hoops to jump through.'' Cutler did not travel with the team to San Francisco after being injured the previous week on a helmet-to-helmet hit by Houston's Tim Dobbins in a loss to the Texans. Jason Campbell started against the 49ers, and the Bears got pounded 32-7.

Shelved Jay Cutler Brings Bears Closer To Hibernation

Who knew what this Monday night matchup would be prior to week one. The possibilities exploded off the schedule until quarterback concussions and injuries occurred quicker than a Tony Romo interception. With Jake Cutler down and Alex Smith hoping for game-time medical approval, this game has definitely lost its luster. However, it remains larger than the injury reports. Six weeks...

Cutler out, Campbell to start at San Francisco

Jason Campbell will start for the Bears in Monday's game at San Francisco, NFL Network reported Friday. Campbell, who signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal to back up Jay Cutler, has 70 career starts. Teammates said Thursday the offense wouldn't change much if Cutler was forced to miss his first game this season with a concussion. That's a far cry from the 2011...

Hot News for QB Jay Cutler

Cutler ruled out against 49ers

The Chicago Bears have announced that backup quarterback Jason Campbell will start on Sunday after starter Jay Cutler suffered a concussion last week against the Houston Texans. This is a tough loss as the Bears will face the NFC West leading San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Replay clearly showed Houston linebacker Tim Dobbins made helmet-to-helmet [...]

Bears preparing Campbell if Cutler can't go

The Chicago Bears believe they can get by without Jay Cutler. That theory might be tested this week, and the team is getting Jason Campbell ready for Monday night's game against the 49ers.

Jay Cutler, Shea McClellin ruled out for Monday’s game against 49ers

The Chicago Bears will have to rely on Jason Campbell if they are to defeat the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night. Jay Culter has been ruled out due to the lingering effects of a concussion. Cutler was knocked out of the Bears’ Nov. 11 game against Houston following a helmet-to-helmet hit from Texans linebacker Tim Dobbins. Dobbins has since been fined $30,000 by the league for...

No Bears practice, but plenty of news

The Chicago Bears skipped practice Wednesday afternoon, but there was no shortage of information flowing out of Halas Hall. The most pressing matter is the health of Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, who suffered a concussion late in the first half Sunday night against Houston. Bears head coach Lovie Smith stated that Cutler is feeling better, he wouldn’t make a guess [...]

Chicago Bears at San Francisco 49ers: Week 11 NFL Pick

Chicago Bears (7-2) at San Francisco 49ers (7-2) I can’t make a final pick on this one because there are too many unknowns with injuries and with the line in general (it’s not yet posted). However, I can do a reasonable preview based on what we do know. Here’s what we know. We know Jay Cutler has been ruled out and will not play for the Bears. Instead, Jason Campbell will start...

Bear Breakdown: Phil Emery Has Put The Bears in the Right Position

Last year, after compiling a 7-3 record, the Bears appeared right on track toward making a playoff berth. Following a 31-20 win over the Chargers in Week 11, it was discovered that quarterback Jay Cutler broke his thumb and would likely be out for the remainder of the season. The Bears moved forward with backup Caleb Hanie. Then-General Manager Jerry Angelo felt strongly enough about...

Ben Roethlisberger worth four points against the spread, more than Jay Cutler

Several big-name NFL quarterbacks got injured last weekend, creating difficult spots for their teams, and changes in the point spreads. Unsurprisingly, the injury to Ben Roethlisberger has the most significant effect on the spread. Per Pregame.com, here’s how much each starting quarterback’s injury is worth to his team’s point spread: Big Ben: 4 points Jay Cutler: 2 points...

Urlacher: I'd still lie about concussion

Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher still says he would lie to cover up a concussion. With quarterback Jay Cutler recovering from a concussion, the Bears' defensive star wasn't backing off comments he made to HBO earlier this year. He responded ''yeah'' when asked if he would try to cover up such an injury. He said he's not sure ''how you...

BR Rookie Diary: Matt Blanchard

Jay Cutler is down, Jason Campbell is starting and Josh McCown was signed off the street. Rookie Matt Blanchard talks about the transition currently underway with the Bears’ signal callers.

Bears-49ers Preview

The San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears are two of the top teams in the NFC, but that's with their respective starting quarterbacks. Concussions may make both unavailable come Monday night. With Alex Smith and Jay Cutler potentially adding to the national viewing audience, it could be up to Colin Kaepernick and Jason Campbell to solve two of the toughest defenses in the league...
