CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- The Charlotte Bobcats acquired Josh McRoberts from the Orlando Magic on Thursday in exchange for Hakim Warrick in a trade involving two backup veteran forwards.
The 6-foot-10 McRoberts, who played at Duke, has appeared in 41 games this season with three starts and is averaging 3.9 points and 3.7 rebounds.
Warrick, in his eighth NBA season, was acquired earlier this season in a trade with the New Orleans Hornets. Since joining the Bobcats he has averaged 6.9 points per game and 3.2 rebounds, but has played in only one of the team's last 11 games.
The Bobcats were unable to unload veteran guard Ben Gordon, who is due 13 million under next year's salary cap. Gordon and first-year coach Mike Dunlap have clashed at times this season.
"Josh McRoberts is a quality young big man who can play either post position for us," said Bobcats president of basketball operations Rod Higgins. "We look forward to adding his size and energy to our rotation."
Currently in his sixth NBA season, the McRoberts has career averages of 4.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists, along with a career field goal percentage of .496 in 246 games played for the Trail Blazers, Pacers, Lakers and Magic.
Earlier this season he posted career highs of 14 rebounds on Nov. 25 against Boston and eight assists on Jan. 7 at Portland.
McRoberts was originally selected with the 37th overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft by the Trail Blazers after two years at Duke, where he was a teammate of Bobcats guard Gerald Henderson during the 2006-07 season.
He had his best overall season in 2010-11, when he averaged career highs of 7.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 22.2 minutes in 72 games played for the Pacers, including 51 starts.

The Charlotte Bobcats have disappointed, yet again. Not only have they been abysmal for the majority of this 2012-13 NBA season, but they couldn’t even add some extra excitement during the NBA trade deadline this year. Tyrus Thomas is out of the rotation and is widely regarded to be on the outs with the franchise. [...]
I’m so excited about the Bobcats trading Hakim Warrick to the Magic for Josh McRoberts! Not because I think the trade will matter much—seriously, Weird Al Yankovic albums have more significance than this deal—but because it frees me up from having to think about last night’s loss to the Pistons. Against Detroit, the Bobcats sandwiched [...]
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - It wasn't hard to figure out Friday night why the Charlotte Bobcats have the worst record in the NBA.
You didn't even have to look at the scoreboard, the one reading 105-75 in favor of the Chicago Bulls.
Forget their league-worst 42 percent field-goal shooting, too. Forget that Charlotte likely didn't start a single player that would have started...
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- The Orlando Magic point guard Jameer Nelson has been diagnosed with a strained left knee patella tendon.
The team said in a statement Thursday that the veteran's return will be determined after further evaluation when he returns with the team on Saturday from its current road trip. The Magic play at Memphis on Friday.
Nelson was injured in the fourth quarter...
J.J. Redick will be a free agent this offseason and the Magic are seeking a first round pick for him.

After months of rumors and uncertainty, trade deadline day is here and the Magic will finally have to make a decision on J.J. Redick.

The Orlando Magic have traded J.J. Redick to the Milwaukee Bucks in a six-player trade just before the NBA's trade deadline, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports first reported.
Facing the deadline and the potential of losing the sharpshooter for nothing as an unrestricted free agent, the Magic were extremely active at the deadline trying to cash in on this asset. Redick was...
At 22-34, this season hasn’t been kind to the Pistons. But when you travel to Charlotte, you expect things to look fine and dandy as the Bobcats are a horrific 13-41. And while the Pistons came away with a 105-99 win, it didn’t come easy – especially for Pistons big man Greg Monroe. Monroe took some punishment from Bobcats’ rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
According to Yahoo! Sports, the Orlando Magic have traded J.J. Redick to the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Magic will send Gustavo Ayon and Ish Smith to the Bucks along with Redick in return for Doron Lamb, Tobias Harris and Beno Udrih.
In the final year of his contract, J.J. Redick will become a free agent after this season and according to reports, his asking price will be in the 4 year...
The Orlando Magic have traded lethal shooter J.J. Redick to the Milwaukee Bucks. In return the Magic will receive Doron Lamb, Tobias Harris and Beno Udrih. Gustavo Ayon and Ish Smith will also be heading to the Bucks. This trade will ultimately hurt Redick's fantasy value as he won't be the best scorer on the team anymore. In Orlando he was able to take as many shots as...
