Rondo and Garnett come together as All-Stars The Boston Celtics have landed two players into the starting lineup of the 2013 NBA All-Star Game. Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett will both be starting this year for the Eastern Conference.   For Rondo this will be his fourth trip to the All-star game and the first time he will be starting. In his first three appearances he has averaged 4 points and 7 assists in 18.3 minutes per game. Rondo is averaging 13.3 points and a league leading 11.1 assists per game this season. He also leads the league in total assists with 390, turnovers per game with 3.8, and triple doubles with 3. His league leading stats and creativity with the ball has given him the start in this year’s All-Star game. Rondo was second in voting among Eastern Conference guards with 924,180 votes.   For the Veteran Garnett, this will be his 15th trip to the All-Star game. He is not having a great year however and it has brought up lots of criticism on whether or not he deserves a starting role with lots of other superstars in the league. All of his stats are below his career averages, as he is being monitored closely on his minutes. With his age and past injuries Doc Rivers is holding Garnett to an average of just 29.8 minutes per game. Anyway, he is a fearless veteran leader and a huge part to the Boston Celtics team and was third in votes for Eastern Conference front court players with 553,222 votes.   In his 14 previous All-Star games KG is averaging 12.2 points per game to go along with 6.5 rebounds and 3 assists in 20.3 minutes per game. He was the MVP of the All-Star game back in 2003, but did not make the roster on last years team.   The reserves for the All-Star team have not yet been announced and will be within the next week. The fans vote for the starting lineups and now the coaches of the league choose who the reserves will be to fill up the rest of the two rosters. Can the Celtics add another player from their roster to the All-Star squad? Paul Pierce is a viable option and should definitely be considered as a reserve for the East. He has been to 10 All-Star games and is a leader, a fan favorite, and a huge part of the Boston Celtics organization. In his 10 All-Star appearances Pierce has averaged 9.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game in 13.6 minutes per contest.   The Celtics will be well represented in this years’ All-Star game with two players in the starting lineup, and a possible reserve with Paul Pierce if he gets selected. There is tough competition for the remaining guard spots on the roster with Jrue Holiday and Kyrie Irving who both have had great years up to this point. It is not a given that Pierce will make it even though he is putting up decent numbers this year and has been apart of the Eastern Conference All-Star team for the past five straight years. Nonetheless Rondo and Garnett will be representing Boston and leading the East out in Houston for the 2013 NBA All-Star game.

Rajon Rondo Rocks Gold Nike Hyperposites vs Knicks

The struggling Celtics dropped their fifth straight (and first to the Knicks in Boston since ’06) on Thursday night, but Rajon Rondo was still able to shine in more ways than one.  As his teammates spent the majority of the game piling up bricks (or, in Paul Pierce’s case, dropping bricks on their toes), Rondo recorded his 27th career triple-double by scoring a team-high 23...

Kevin Garnett is frustrated with his play, says he needs to find more ways to help the team

Throughout the Celtics latest losing streak, there seems to be a lot of reflection going on within the team's locker room. A few days ago it was Doc Rivers questioning how bad the team 'wants it' and threatening to get rid of players if the team doesn't start winning. Last night Paul Pierce questioned the team's mental toughness. Among those currently in a state...

“The locker room has become a playhouse…”

After Rajon Rondo called out his teammates for not taking losses as hard as they probably should, there’s more coming out about the state of the C’s locker room. The Celtics are a team — and that’s not counting Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett — that believes because they are Celtics, because Rivers is the coach, and because the organization has been successful...

"Honey Nut Cheerios" stuff confiscated at Garden last night

The rumor spreading around after the Celtics defeated the Knicks back in New York was that Kevin Garnett told Carmelo his wife tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios. That rumor was obviously hilarious and, true or not, it turned into a national story, and soon after, material items....

Your Morning Dump..Where You’re Either With KG Or Against Him

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.. Good piece this morning on KG from the NY Times’ Harvey Araton. Heading into tonight’s game with the Knicks, Melo & KG have supposedly put their squabble behind them. But we all know that with KG, anything’s...

Knicks Get Even With Celtics By Standing Firm In Crunch Time

For the first time since 2006, the Knicks came away victorious in Boston on Thursday night. While such a win puts an end to such a frustrating and traumatizing losing streak, perhaps it also symbolizes why this a season is one more different than any other in recent years for the Knicks.Clearly an NBA powerhouse over the past few seasons, the Celtics have always seemed to have New...
