Almost a month into the Cape Cod Baseball League season, UConn’s Vinny Siena continues to struggle with the Bourne Braves.
The Huskies’ third baseman is hitting just .162 in his team’s first 15 games — he’s played in 11 — and has been prone to strikeouts early on in the season — he’s been fanned 14 times and walked just four.
Of his six hits this summer, just one has gone for extra bases thus far, which was a double against the Harwich Mariners on June 18th. That double pushed across one of Siena’s two RBIs, with the other coming June 17th against the Orleans Firebirds.
Originally, Siena was one of two Huskies playing in the Cape this summer, but Bobby Melley, who played for Hyannis, was released from his temporary contract after logging just three at-bats and no hits over the first four games of the season.
