Fantasy owners were discouraged this week that the wide receiver of the Jacksonville Jaguars Cecil Shorts III suffered an injury that sat him out the entire game against the Denver Broncos.
Shorts left the game on the Jaguars first possession with an apparent shoulder sprain. Yet, many fans and fantasy owners remained hopeful as the Jaguars Twitter account listed Shorts as questionable. Sadly, he did not return, leaving the stadium in a sling.
The Jaguars have relied on Shorts throughout the season so far. The wide receiver has been the go-to receiver for both quarterback Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne. He has been their most productive player with 31 receptions for 411 yards and a touchdown going into Week six. The loss of Shorts can be a big blow to the Jaguars offense as he led the team in receptions and yards.
Later, news reported from ESPN’s Josina Anderson stated that the Jaguars are concerned that Shorts “could have fractured a rib closer towards his sternum.” So his injury has begun to sound more complicated and more worrisome that just a shoulder sprain.
Shorts is set to have a CT scan on Monday. If he doesn’t return, it looks like Justin Blackmon will be the Jaguars only viable receiver.
The Jaguars lost to the Broncos 19-35.
