Celtics Assistant General Manager Ryan McDonough has been a master of advanced scouting over the past decade, finding draft steals such as Kendrick Perkins (27th pick), Tony Allen (25th), Rajon Rondo (21st), Glen Davis (35th), Avery Bradley (22nd), and Jared Sullinger (21st). Though a GM's job is never entirely safe in professional sports, Danny Ainge doesn't appear to be leaving anytime soon, but McDonough might have a chance to take the reins for the Phoenix Suns. After a series of blunders (trading Marion for Shaq, giving Michael Beasley 3 years, $18 MILLION, etc.), the Suns were the worst team in the Western Conference this season with a 25 and 57 record. As a Phoenix native, trust me when I say it was downright ugly.
Phoenix is deciding between McDonough, Milwaukee Assistant GM Jeff Weltman, and San Antonio Assistant GM Scott Layden, all of whom have made some excellent picks. Though it might not seem like a big deal, losing McDonough would hurt the C's. After all,...

Team Money member, Rajon Rondo, sat ringside at the Mayweather-Guerrero fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Rondo, who did not attend the Celtics Game 6 loss on Friday as he flew to Nevada for the fight, wore a bedazzled shirt with his face on it as he watched on:
Last night after the Chicago Bulls lost to the Brooklyn Nets, I logged onto Facebook to find Derrick Rose being blasted in the majority of comments on my news feed. I lived in Chicago for three years, and the sentiments echoed in the posts being made by my friends that are Bulls fans mostly consisted of calling Rose a "p#ssy" for not suiting up and helping his team dispose...
The Oklahoma City Thunder are heading in the wrong direction since Russell Westbrook went down with a knee injury. After putting the Houston Rockets in a 3-0 hole, the Thunder now find themselves preparing for Game 6 on the road. Kendrick Perkins is not concerned. No team has ever come back to win an NBA playoff series after being down 0-3, but that hasn’t stopped the speculation...
Kendrick Perkins should leave the motivational Tweets to someone who knows what they are doing.
That’s great that he has a championship, but that doesn’t really help the Thunder at this particular moment does it? Unless KG and Paul Pierce are going to moonlight as Thunder players on their days off, that ring means absolutely nothing. Derek Fisher has many more rings than that...
This is the NBA playoffs. There’s no place for sensitive smurf in the building. During Friday night’s Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder match up, early in the first quarter the energy was already on high. Kendrick Perkins, Francisco Garcia and Omer Asik had a little shoving match. After the refs and their respective teammates got int between to make sure that cool heads...
Kendrick Perkins was benched in the second half of the Oklahoma City Thunder's closeout win over the Houston Rockets on Friday, but Scott Brooks is confident that his big man will bounce back in the second round against the Memphis Grizzlies.
“This series was hard for him,” Brooks said of Perkins against the run-and-gun Rockets. “But his commitment to still cheer his...
Carmelo Anthony felt his left shoulder pop out of place when he collided with Avery Bradley during the fourth quarter of the Knicks' Game 6 win over the Boston Celtics.
"It was a little sore throughout the whole game," Anthony said. "Then when Bradley came and hit my shoulder from behind, it really just kind of popped in and out a little bit. But I'm fine....
If you missed the game last night, you missed an amazing display of Celtic Pride in the 4th quarter.
Down 26 points with just under 10 minutes to go in the 4th period, the Celtics season seemed sure to be over. Boston had been outplayed for the first three quarters in every way imaginable. Then, little by little, they found a way to come back. Led by Avery Bradley and an exhausted Jeff...
Lionel Hollins doesn't want to hear it.
The Thunder are without Russell Westbrook, who is out after undergoing knee surgery, as they face Hollins' Grizzlies in the Western Conference semifinals, but he can't dwell on who is in or who is out of Oklahoma City's lineup.
''I'm not worried about who they have or don't have," Hollins said. "...
Doc: "I couldn't be more proud of a group of guys who went through (so much) adversity. They never didn't think they could (do it)."
— Boston Celtics (@celtics) May 4, 2013Doc on the 20-0 run: "It was a microcosm of the year, that stretch. We've been counted out 4-5 times this year, and each time we came back."
— Boston Celtics (@celtics) May 4...
I had a recap written, a morose send off to a lost season, but like so many times before the Celtics made me tear the whole thing up. When Avery Bradley stole the ball and cut the lead to four I believed, in that moment I doubted the obituary I had resigned myself to writing and though the C’s came up short I wonder what comes next. When the Knicks’ lead ballooned to twenty I...
Rich Conte will take over the Beat today on CLNS Radio. Conte will be joined by CLNS Co-Founder, Nick Gelso. The guys will be breaking down what went wrong in the Celtics - Kicks first round series, their best & worst moments of 2012-13. Will Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce be returning next season OR was Friday night our last opportunity to see these legends on the parquet? The...
Tonight, the Celtics will play another elimination game. But now this one's in New York, where it's much harder to win. But if they're gonna win this series, the Celtics will have to win at MSG twice. Tonight's number one. Here are the five things:
5. MORE SHOTS FOR BASS:
In Game Four, Brandon Bass scored just 4 points on 2/3 shooting in 30 minutes of play. I don...
The Oklahoma City Thunder and Memphis Grizzlies are ready to rumble again.
Two years after slugging it out in a Western Conference semifinal series that went the full seven games, the two rough-and-tumble rivals will square off again starting in Game 1 in Oklahoma City on Sunday.
The Thunder prevailed against Memphis in the last playoff series, which featured a triple-overtime...
A season to forget ended at the Garden tonight. I’m thankful because I just can’t take it anymore.
The Celtics played atrocious basketball for 39 minutes. The performance rivaled the worst of the worst in this decade. If Dan Dickau was on this team, Doc Rivers would have played him 44 minutes. The offense was that bad.
But… when trailing by 26 points in the 4th quarter, the...
