Although in the past a lot of college coaches have not done well in the pros, most of the reaction has been positive about the hiring of Brad Stevens.
Brad Stevens is a great teacher of the game and this is what the Celtics needed. Huge loss for the Bulldogs and college basketball.

Although Grampa Celtic needs a little time to digest the move.
Need a little time to digest Brad Stevens hire. Danny has gone waaaay out of the box, which is no surprise.

Adrian Wojnarowski sees the Celtics using analytics more with the hire of Stevens.
Boston has put a greater premium on analytics and coaching, and Brad Stevens had incorporated them in major way at Butler.

Danny made this statement about the hire:
Brad and I share a lot of the same values. Though he is young, I see Brad as a great leader who leads with impeccable character and a strong work ethic. His teams always play hard and execute on both ends of the court. Brad is a coach who has already enjoyed lots of success, and I look forward to working with him towards Banner 18.”
Now the BIG question will be whether Rondo will approve of the new coach or if he will rebel. If Danny was truly planning to keep Rondo, I would imagine that he was part of the decision making process as Danny picked Stevens. Some feel that the Stevens hire points to a definite trade of Rondo.
I don't see any way Danny Ainge would hire Brad Stevens and make him deal with Rajon Rondo. Zero. #HeGone

Stevens is a good teacher of the game and that will be needed with the young core of the future. It appears that Danny plans for the coach and team to grow together. According to Steve Bulpett, Stevens will be getting a 6 year contract. Of course, we know that 6 years doesn't always mean 6 years, as we found out with Doc's 5 year contract. But, a contract of that length would indicate that Danny is looking for Stevens to add continuity to the rebuilding project.
Stevens and his wife Tracy, along with their children Brady and Kinsley, will be introduced to the media at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Celtics Training Center at Healthpoint.
Personal Note: I apologize for my recent absence. I am recovering from congestive heart failure and so will be a bit slow with posting. It figures when some of the biggest moves of the past 8 years happen, I'm unable to keep up with them. Thank you to Rain and Lee for keeping things going while I was unable to post.
