Unless you’re in some sort of bogus fantasy league that plays Week 17, in which case quit and join a new league, fantasy football for you is over in 2012.Better luck next year… or maybe congratulations. Or maybe a little bit of both (since most of you reading this are probably in 3+ fantasy leagues). For most NFL teams, next week has the significance of a preseason game. Thus, these are your final champs and chumps for 2012. QUARTERBACKS QB ChampsA bunch of signal callers didn’t disappoint in the final week of the fantasy season. The top three QBs all have a last name that starts with the letter “R”. Coincidence? I think not.Tony Romo: 416 pass yds, 4 pass TDsDespite his great fantasy performance, the Cowboys still lost. That’s because they are the Cowboys.Aaron Rodgers: 342 pass yds, 3 pass TDs, 11 rush yds, rush TDIn hindsight, it wasn’t a bad move drafting a QB in Round 1.Matt Ryan: 279 pass yds, 4 pass TDs, 25 rush ydsLooks like Matty Ice isn’t melting this holiday season. (Sorry.)Russell Wilson: 171 pass yds, 4 pass TDs, INT, 29 rush ydsHe picked the right time to turn into one of the top quarterbacks in the league.Drew Brees: 446 pass yds, 3 pass TDs, -1 rush ydsA top fantasy performer in 2012.Peyton Manning: 339 pass yds, 3 pass TDs, INTWherever he was drafted at the start of the year in your league, he was a steal.Joe Flacco: 309 pass yds, 2 pass TDs, -10 rush yds, rush TDOnly Joe Flacco could manage to rush for -10 yards and still get a touchdown on the ground. QB ChumpsMatt Schaub: 178 pass ydsYou probably didn’t make it to the championship with him at quarterback anyway. He’s been the definition of an average fantasy QB.Ben Roethlisberger: 220 pass yds, pass TD, 2 INTs, 3 rush ydsHe was a bad start against the Bengals in Cincy to begin with.Eli Manning: 150 pass yds, pass TD, 8 rush ydsThe cover of the New York Post Monday morning was Eli Manning on the ground with the headline: “WHAT A BUM!”RUNNING BACKSRB ChampsJamaal Charles: 226 rush yds, rush TD, 4 rec yds, fumble lostAnd the Chiefs still lose. Not that you care.Reggie Bush: 65 rush yds, rush TD, 42 rec yds, 2 rec TDsSomeone out there won his or her fantasy football league because of Reggie Bush. I don’t like to use abbreviations in articles, but the only thing I can think of to say to this is LOL.Marshawn Lynch: 111 rush yds, rush TD, 19 rec yds, rec TDSomebody reward this man with some Skittles. RB ChumpsArian Foster: 15 rush yds, 14 rec yds, fumble lostTalk about bad luck for Foster owners. You don’t expect the top overall pick in your draft to cost you the championship.Frank Gore: 28 rush ydsTypically a low-end RB1, Gore might’ve been only a flex play going up against a surging Seahawks team on the road. Still, no one expected him to do this poorly.Bryce Brown: 18 rush ydsFirst two games as a starter: 347 rush yds, 4 rush TDs, 3 fumbles lostLast three games: 32 rush yds, no TDsAt least he stopped fumbling! WIDE RECEIVERSWR ChampsDez Bryant: 224 rec yds, 2 rec TDsBryant has 10 TDs over the past 7 weeks. If you traded for him mid-season give yourself a pat on the back.Roddy White: 153 rec yds, 2 rec TDsHe had almost 10 times the number of receiving yards he had last week (16). WR ChumpsVictor Cruz: 21 rec yds36 total yards on 6 receptions over the past two weeks. Clearly Cruz didn’t want anyone who drafted him to win.Mike Wallace: -1 rush yds, 13 rec ydsHe really only had five or so good games this season—a big disappointment. TIGHT ENDSTE ChampLance Kendricks: 119 rec yds, rec TDLooking back, any receiver going up against the Bucs’ pitiful pass D this year was a worthy fantasy start.TE ChumpsTony Gonzalez: 9 rec ydsMatt Ryan throws for 279 yards and Tony G. only gets nine of them?Aaron Hernandez: 13 rec ydsFellow Patriots’ tight end Michael Hoomanawanui had more receiving yards and receptions. He also has a harder last name to pronounce.
