While most everyone is focused on the revamped Chicago Bears offensive line and the need for Jay Cutler to step up and earn his big pay day in 2014 one thing seems to have gone completely unnoticed, Robbie Gould's job is on the line.  Gould has been one of the most accurate kickers in the history of the NFL, his consistency as  a kicker during his career with the Bears has been matched only by Kevin Butler.  He has done nothing wrong to be put on notice as the kicker for the Chicago Bears, he's been everything you want in a kicker and more.  There is however something that materialized during the off-season Bears general manager Phil Emery went out and signed kicker Austin Signor to a three-year contract.  That contract essentially means Gould is completely expendable unless Signor completely bombs in the training camp competition against Gould.  The reason being, Gould carries a $2.42-million base salary for the 2013 season which would save that much against the salary cap.  By contrast Signor's three year salary is about $1-million less than Gould's 2013 salary.  Signor played collegiate football at Iowa (2006-07) and Eastern Illinois (2008-09), earning first team All-OVC honors as a senior in 2009, leading Panthers with 76 points, connecting on 14-of-22 field goal attempts and all 34 extra points.  This according to the Chicago Bears press release when the Bears signed him on April 19th.  While Gould has done absolutely nothing to earn a training camp battle, Phil Emery blatantly threw down the gauntlet at Gould with the Signor signing.  The writing is on the wall for Robbie Gould's career in Chicago given he has only one year left on his contract.  Signor will merely have to show up and not completely choke the job away to Gould in this competition.  If he competes well with Gould in training camp the job is Signor's to lose.  Robbie Gould is quietly behind the 8-ball barring an unforeseen collapse.
