Found June 17, 2013 on FF Locker Room:
PLAYERS: Eduardo Sanchez
TEAMS: Chicago Cubs
The Chicago Cubs have outrighted right-handed reliever Eduardo Sanchez to Triple-A Iowa after having cleared waivers. Sanchez, who was designated for assignment last week, remains as depth for the organization. While Sanchez does have potential, he is already in his mid-20′s and hasn’t found the harness on his control the past few seasons. Sanchez is a project at best, but with pitching being at a premium, he will continue to receive chances as long as his arm remains healthy. Your browser does not support iframes.Mass confusion was the theme in the top of the ninth inning during the Cubs win over the Mets Saturday afternoon.Chicago had the bases loaded with no outs when Darwin Barney struck a ball to shallow center field. Mets center fielder Juan Lagares came charging in and appeared to make a shoestring catch to take away a hit from Barney. But wait...

Chicago Cubs 2013 draft recap

Many experts anticipated the Chicago Cubs would take Stanford’s RHP Mark Appel or Oklahoma’s RHP Jonathan Gray with the second overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft, but they opted for University of San Diego slugger Kris Bryant. This was a surprise to many because of the obvious lack of top-end pitching in the Cubs farm system, but the Chicago front office made it clear it was...

JOT: Cubs Minor League Recap 6-17-13

Omaha Storm Chasers 0 @ Iowa Cubs 2 No walks and a single extra-base hit (Logan Watkins, double). You'd think the Cubs lost, right? Wrong: Chris Rusin pitched a shutout because he's on a mission to make me look as stupid as possible. 5 hits and a walk, and 8 strikeouts.  Mississippi Braves 1 @ Tennessee Smokies 2  1-8 each had a hit, but they were all singles. This was...

What to make of Edwin Jackson’s season so far?

This past off-season the Chicago Cubs made acquiring starting pitching a priority. One of those pitchers signed was journeyman Edwin Jackson, who was given a 4 year, $52 million deal. But with Jackson’s struggles throughout the first half of the season, many are questioning whether or not the Cubs should have spent that much money on him. Let’s take a look at his stats so far...

Series preview: Cubs come to town after deflating loss

ST. LOUIS -- The Cubs were three outs away from heading to Busch Stadium on a rare four-game winning streak Sunday afternoon. Then came Carlos Marmol. There went the Cubs' momentum. Marmol gave up four runs on two homers while getting only one out -- that on a sacrifice -- to turn a 3-0 lead into a 4-3 walk-off loss against the lowly Mets. Even normally soft-spoken left...

Kyle Hendricks improved to 7-2 with seven strong innings in a Tennessee victory. 2012 first-rounder Paul Blackburn made his NWL debut and Kane County lost.

NBC's Bob Costas bashes Mets’ victory celebration over Cubs (Video)

Cubs’ Players Wish Dads ‘Happy Father’s Day’

Baseball has been uniting father and son since the inception of the game in the 1850s. So on this Father’s Day, we are grateful to the many dads out there who taught us how to play America’s pastime. With the Chicago Cubs in town for this past weekend’s series, a few of the visiting players shared their memories growing up learning the tools of the trade from their fathers...

Preview: Wainwright draws test from pesky Cubs

(AP) -- Offense continues to come at a premium for the Chicago Cubs at Busch Stadium, and it likely won't come any easier Tuesday night. Adam Wainwright takes the mound for the St. Louis Cardinals trying to win a sixth straight start as he faces Chicago. The Cubs (28-40) managed only one run and 16 hits while being swept in three games at St. Louis last July 20-22 in their...

Minor League Report: June 11-17, 2013: Promotions Coming?

Around this time every year, after the draft and the beginning of the short-season A and rookie leagues, many prospects begin to be promoted while others are displaced from their positions in the upper minors. With the Boise Hawks beginning play and the rookie-level team based in Mesa soon to follow, the Cubs have begun signing draft picks, including second rounder Rob Zastryzny...

Series Preview: Chicago Cubs (28-39) at St. Louis Cardinals (44-25)

I had to stop and ask myself if the Cubs had even played the Cardinals yet this year. Two and a half months into the season, the Cubs and Cardinals have only played a two game series back in May that they split. This is probably a good thing for the Cubs win-loss record (or a bad thing, depending on how you look at it). The Cardinals are good. And kinda lucky. But to paraphrase Dwight...

Being a Fan

Today, of course, is Fathers’ Day, and as such I had a good time with the family and especially with my son.  The wife will give me something else later (ha!) but we just finished watching Monsters, Inc., and playing Stratego and some card games.  It was very relaxing.  It’s almost as if the Cubs hadn’t lost a game and our world hadn’t suddenly ended. That post, surprisingly...
