2013 Basketball Recruiting: Florida Gators November Recruiting Update

With the football season more than halfway over, election day today, and the Florida Gators’ basketball season three days away, it’s safe to say that this year has been flying by. That being said, it’s always the right time to talk about basketball recruiting. Below is an update on how Florida stands with three elite basketball recruits. Center, Dakari Johnson: Good news came...

Dakari Johnson to 2013 opens path for a potential Gators No. 1 class

Recent recruiting talk has been dominated by Coach Calipari and Kentucky. And for good reason. Cal has already landed three of the top-6 players according to ESPN, and is on the radar for several more elite recruits. So it's inconceivable that the Wildcats won't end up with the No. 1 class, again. Right? Well, lurking just behind him is another SEC program - the Florida...

Veterans respond to poor exhibition

Florida coach Billy Donovan hopes his veterans got their bad game out of the way before the regular season even started. Donovan was critical after Florida’s exhibition win over Nebraska-Kearney was highlighted by the freshmen. At times, the veterans looked sluggish and uninterested. With the season opening on Friday against Georgetown, Donovan thinks his veterans have flipped the switch.

Gators have goal of staying unbeaten at home

GAINESVILLE, Fla. If you were at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium that day last November, you know exactly what Gators cornerback Jaylen Watkins spoke of Monday. Florida had completed the SEC portion of its schedule the previous week with a loss at South Carolina. The Gators returned home to host Furman, their final game before the annual regular-season finale against Florida State. A...

Florida's Ball 'values each moment' after scare

It started as the ''worst headache ever.'' And before Florida linebacker Neiron Ball knew the diagnosis, the pain had gotten so severe that he couldn't look down and was begging for medication. ''I can't really explain it,'' Ball said. ''The closest thing I can think is somebody just smushing my brain.'' Doctors determined...

Gators' Neiron Ball values each moment

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- It started as the "worst headache ever." And before Florida linebacker Neiron Ball knew the diagnosis, the pain had gotten so severe that he couldn't look down and was begging for medication. "I can't really explain it," Ball said. "The closest thing I can think is somebody just smushing my brain." Doctors determined...

Mann transferring from Florida

Florida lineman Jafar Mann has decided to transfer. The freshman met with head coach Will Muschamp on Sunday night to talk, and the conversation ended with him planning to leave the program. Mann has split time between offensive guard and defensive tackle since coming to campus over the summer.

Up-tempo offense provides different look

The Gators came out with a different look on offense against Missouri. They showed their up tempo offense at other times in the season, but it was the focus of the first quarter on Saturday. However, it didn’t produce points. It was still a chance for the offense to get some game reps in the hurry up and see if it’s worth using in the future. Offensive coordinator Brent Pease...

Freshmen impressing in games and practice

Jonathan Bullard and Dante Fowler have made an impact off the edge of the Florida defensive line this season. Linebacker Antonio Morrison has filled in when Jelani Jenkins has dealt with injuries. Those are the freshmen most Florida fans know about, but they aren’t the only ones catching the eye of the Florida coaching staff. Plenty of others are impressing with their play in practice.

Louisiana-Lafayette-Florida Preview

Done with conference play, Florida will need some outside help to receive a berth in the SEC championship game. While they'll be hoping for their Eastern Division co-leader to slip up in the next two weeks, the seventh-ranked Gators will try to shore up some offensive issues when they host a couple of seemingly overmatched opponents, beginning with Louisiana-Lafayette in Saturday...
