But in today’s racing climate family heritage doesn’t mean you have an automatic place in the sport. The costs of racing since Randy LaJoie’s racing days have gone up dramatically. And today the money is what powers most to the top. But despite the economic challenges, Corey LaJoie and his small all volunteer team proved that with hard work, determination, and the generous support of sponsors it is still possible to show your talent. LaJoie spent most days of the racing season working in his father’s seat company (the Joie of Seating). After hours and often during lunch breaks LaJoie and another employee, Steven Dawson, would work on the race car. Ron Otto, a full time employee at Michael Waltrip Racing handled crew chief duties. LaJoie and his volunteer crew finished the season 8th in the Championship points. He led several laps at many of the races, had several podium...
