“We felt Daytona was a place Kris would be able to go and compete in his draft summer once he got enough at-bats under his belt,” Cubs director of scouting Jason McLeod said. “With Daytona being in the playoffs, Kris will get three-plus weeks down there which will be nice.”
Bryant was the Cubs 2013 first-round pick and second overall

Marc Hulet over at Fangraphs has a scouting report up on Kyle Hendricks after seeing him pitch August 1st. His review is mixed.
He’s dominated hitters in the minors due to above-average control and command of his four-pitch repertoire (fastball, curveball, cutter, changeup)
His simple mechanics allow him to consistently repeat his delivery — both from the full windup...
Programming note: I'm taking tomorrow and Friday off to go to GenCon. dmick has kindly offered to step in on those days. There should be no interruption in programming.

Josh Vitters doubled and struck out once (playing 1B). Mike Olt singled and struck out twice (playing 3B).
Kyle Hendricks pitched, and did fairly poorly. He allowed 4 runs...

Mike Olt went 0-3.
Yoanner Negrin got the start and was pretty decent. He allowed 3 runs in 6 innings, but only 1 run was earned. In any case, he allowed 5 hits and a walk and struck out 7. Marcus Hatley and Zach Rosscup each went one perfect inning (Hatley fanned 2, Rosscup all 3 he faced), and Alberto Cabrera allowed a run in his inning of work...

The Chicago Cubs promoted 2013 first-round draft pick Kris Bryant to High-A Daytona Monday. While the Cubs continue to struggle offensively after losing 2-0 to the Reds in another quality start for Travis Wood Monday night, this news out of the team’s...
The Chicago Cubs entered Sunday’s game looking to sweep the Cardinals in St. Louis, after winning two total games in their last three series combined. The series began on Friday, which the Cubs won 3-0. It was the first time the Cubs shutout the Cardinals in St. Louis since June 23, 1997, when Jeremi Gonzalez threw a complete game shutout for the Cubs. Saturday night also resulted...
The Chicago Cubs fortified their efforts in the international market Monday night by confirming the signing of 18-year-old Taiwanese pitcher Jen-Ho Tseng.
Tseng who is listed at 6-foot-1 and 198 pounds has a fastball clocked at 95 mph. He pitched for his country in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
Tseng agreed to a $1.625 million bonus
I’ve received more emails asking about Kyle Hendricks than any other prospect in recent weeks. Everyone seems to be curious about the Cubs’ right-handed pitching prospect who posted a 1.85 ERA in 21 Double-A starts. Due to popular demand, he leads off this edition of the Prospect Stock Watch. Kyle Hendricks, RHP, Chicago Cubs: The […]

So, there's a pretty cool story here. Josh Vitters came back, and played 3B (Olt played DH). He hit a home run in the bottom of the 4th; then, in the 5th, Olt called, and hit a home run of his own. Vitters ended up going 1-2 with that HR, a walk, and a strikeout; Olt had just the HR and the K.
Justin Grimm had the start and did…OK. 5...
The Chicago Cubs won't be mistaken for an offensive juggernaut, but their recent trouble scoring runs at home is something the long-suffering franchise hasn't experienced in nearly 89 years.
Homer Bailey has been extremely stingy at Wrigley Field over the last two years, and he'll be on the hill for the Cincinnati Reds as the Cubs look to avoid a fourth straight home...
The Cubs minor league affiliates were a perfect 7-0 Monday night and 2013 International prospect Jefferson Mejia made his professional debut in the DSL. There was plenty of news off the field on Monday. Eric Jokisch and Kris Bryant earned MiLB honors, Bryant was promoted to Daytona along with Kane County 1B Dan Vogelbach, and the Cubs announced the signing of 18-year-old RHP Jen-Ho Tseng,
The Reds have had a great season, and all they have to show for it is looking up at two teams above them in the standings. At least they have a relatively solid grip on that last wild card spot, though that (thankfully) isn't as great of a position as a team would like. Joey Votto is having another MVP-worthy year but will likely be ignored in the voting if the Reds don't...

So that’s good, right? In fact, when I looked at the error “leaderboards,” the Chicago Cubs weren’t even in the top 10 in errors. They are actually tied with the Philadelphia...
