This past Sunday Danica Patrick won the pole for next week’s Daytona 500, becoming the first woman to nab the top spot in this, or any race, in NASCAR’s top series. Granted she hasn’t won anything yet, but to be the first woman sitting on the pole for NASCAR’s most prestigious race is both significant and historic event in stock car racing. But like I said, Patrick hasn’t won anything yet, and even though she’s starting from the pole position, the Daytona 500 is a long, arduous competition that is less a race and more a war of attrition. Still there were many fans and fellow athletes quick to applaud Patrick for her historic moment, including former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb, who showed everyone that his knowledge of NASCAR rivals his knowledge of NFL overtime rules. McNabb sent out this congratulatory tweet to Patrick on her historic “win”… Congrats to the Illinois native Danica Patrick on her win today. The first female to win in a big race with this magnitude. Big win — Donovan McNabb (@donovanjmcnabb) February 17, 2013 Since the Internet is chock full of understanding and sensitive folks, the NFL Network analyst was made aware of his gaffe in the most kindest, humane way possible I’m sure. But instead of owning up to his mistake, McNabb fired back with a response to all the “haters” that really only made things worse… To all the haters, in order to qualify you need to win and beat someone. Hmmm. Ponder on that one. Smh — Donovan McNabb (@donovanjmcnabb) February 18, 2013 And here’s video of Patrick’s run, because nothing will get your pulse racing faster than NASCAR qualifying… The post Danica Patrick wins the pole for the Daytona 500, Donovan McNabb thinks she won the actual race appeared first on Last Angry Fan.
