According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.com, both Daniel Murphy and Ike Davis have officially exchanged arbitration figures with the New York Mets: #bbpBox_292398153083269121 a { text-decoration:none; color:#009999; }#bbpBox_292398153083269121 a:hover { text-decoration:underline; } ike davis files at $3.7M, #mets at $2.825M about 9 hours ago via webReplyRetweetFavorite @JonHeymanCBS Jon Heyman #bbpBox_292400055867035649 a { text-decoration:none; color:#009999; }#bbpBox_292400055867035649 a:hover { text-decoration:underline; } daniel murphy files at $3.4M, #mets at $2.55M about 8 hours ago via webReplyRetweetFavorite @JonHeymanCBS Jon Heyman Meanwhile, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, “If a settlement is not reached, the sides will go to a hearing next month, with an arbitrator picking one of the two submitted figures.” Murphy hit .291 with a .332 on base percentage over 571 at-bats in 2012, but struggled to hit for any power, delivering only six home runs over that span.  While he may lack the ability to hit the long ball, he does have some gap power.  The 27-year-old second baseman hit 40 doubles in 2012 lifting his career total in the category to 115 in 469 games.  The thing that made #28′s year a success — in my opinion — was the job he did defensively for the Mets.  Murphy proved to be an adequate defender, making all the routine plays while committing 15 errors. Davis, unlike Murphy however, showed some nice power in 2012.  The first baseman belted 32 homers and 26 doubles while batting a lowly .227 with a .308 on-base-percentage. After hitting just .201 in the first half of the season, Ike batted .255 with 20 home runs following the All-Star break, including a .287 average in the month of August with a season high .887 OPS.
