Orioles first baseman Chris Davis (right) receives congratulations from teammates after belting a grand slam in the bottom of the 8th against the Twins (photo courtesy USA Today) Right now it doesn’t really matter who Chris Davis faces. After giving fits to the Tampa Rays pitching staff during the Orioles’ first series of the year, Baltimore’s first baseman continued his torrid hitting Friday against the Minnesota Twins. Davis came up in the bottom of the 4th and delivered a single, then with the game tied 5-5  in the bottom of the 8th, came up with the bases loaded and drilled Twins reliever Tyler Robertson’s first pitch into the left field bleachers for a grand slam home run. Davis ended up 2-for-4 with his 4th home run of the year and 5 RBI, giving him 16 through the first four games. He became only the fourth player in major league history to homer in his first four games, joining Willie Mays, Mark McGwire and Nelson Cruz, and is the only player to drive in three or more runs in his team’s first four games, extending his own mark. He has hit 11 home runs in his last 11 games dating back to last season. Through the Orioles’ first four games, Davis is batting .600 (9-for-15) with four homers, 16 RBI, an on-base percentage of .611, a slugging percentage of 1.600 and and OBP of 2.211 Right now there is no one as locked in as Davis. Hey Twins, maybe walk him once in a while.  This article has been read (24) times
