That NBA Lottery Pick:
Sometimes, the only way that an NBA head coach can get through to a player is to show a sign of force.
In the third quarter of the Boston Celtics game four victory over the New York Knicks, Celtics head coach Doc Rivers decided to deliver a rather hard spanking to the backside of Celtics forward Jeff Green:

BEST OF MAXIM
Doc Rivers says the Celtics are really look forward to tomorrow's game. If Boston can take Game 5 in New York this suddenly becomes a winnable series.

The Celtics are now behind 0-3 in their first round playoffs series against the New York Knicks after Friday night's 90-76 loss. Jeff Green was Boston's leading scorer with 21 points. The Celtics host game 4 on Sunday. Hopefully we will see a better effort as they try to avoid elimination.
New York Knicks 90, Boston Celtics 76 - FINAL - April 26, 2013
BOSTON — Jeff Green has a lot of experience putting on a brave face. A person does not go into heart surgery at 25 years old without practicing the best way to look confident when, in a few moments, his heart will literally be beating outside of his chest.
With another loss to the Knicks less than an hour old, Green sat at the raised podium in the bowels of TD Garden on Friday...
NBA center Jason Collins announced Monday in a story for Sports Illustrated that he’s gay, becoming the first active player in a major American team sport to announce that he is gay.
After one quarter in Boston, the Celtics are ahead 22-17. They just look really good right now. Everybody's contributing. If they keep playing this, then they'll be back in New York in no time. Jeff Green has 6 points.
Doc Rivers made it clear how he feels about Jason Collins well before the veteran center’s sexuality was a topic of discussion. Now that Collins is “out,” Rivers sounds more proud of him than ever.
“I am extremely happy and proud of Jason Collins,” Rivers said in a statement on Monday. “He’s a pro’s pro. He is the consummate professional and he is one of my favorite...
WALTHAM, Mass. — Shortly before Jason Collins went public with a historic announcement, he called one of his former coaches to give him the groundbreaking news everyone would know in a few hours: Collins is gay.
On the phone with Doc Rivers, though, Collins was not able to give his message as easily and succinctly as he did in print. So, the Celtics coach interrupted him.
Doc has always been extremely supportive of Jason Collins. On several occasions he referred to him as a great locker room presence and he even put him in the starting lineup at one point.
It's possible that Doc already knew the news we all learned about Collins today. Either way, he certainly liked what he brought to the locker room and somehow he might have also been possibly...
Admiral Ackbar would lose his voice calling out all the traps on the Celtics by the Knicks this series. Paul Pierce, primarily, and Jeff Green have been double-teamed and trapped with great effectiveness most of the series.
While the trapping has been effective, it can also leave you vulnerable. The Celtics have an opportunity, like this guy, to turn his opponent’s greatest...
The TD Garden was swarming with police Friday night for the playoff game between the Boston Celtics against the New York Knicks.
Both outside the building and on the floor.
The Celtics honored the first-responders from last week's Boston Marathon attack during the game, their first at home since the April 15 bombing at the race's finish line.
It's funny how these things work. You have a subpar regular season, but then step up your game when it counts the most and the previous 6 months are forgotten. Doc Rivers for one has appreciated playoff Bass.
Celtics coach Doc Rivers called forward Brandon Bass "the star of the game" for his defense on Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony. Bass limited Anthony to 10-of-35...
There sure was a lot of complaining about the refs in this game while at the same time they are talking about all the Celtics in foul trouble and their guys not in foul trouble. That's downright funny. Also, it never ceases to amaze me how they trash their own players when they miss a couple of shots or have a tough stretch and then when they hit a couple of shots they...
Well, here we are, Game 4. The game that could be this team's last of the year. The game that could be KG's last game as a Celtic. If it is, they should make it a good one. Without further ado, here are tonight's five things:
5. MORE SHOTS FOR BASS:
In the Game Three loss, Brandon Bass shot just 1/5 from the field. I'm shocked that this team only gave him 5 attempts...
Two games into the first-round matchup between the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks, and the most talked about players are Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith and Jeff Green.
That wasn't always the case. Around the turn of the century, two other players, who are both involved in this series, ruled the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference.
The Atlantic Division has been lorded...
If you told any Celtic fan before the season that Boston would be down 0-3 in the 1st round of the playoffs, they would laugh at the thought. If you told any Celtic fan that they would be down 0-3 against Atlantic division rival Knicks, they would probably laugh even harder. Now it's the reality that nobody expected. The Celtics face the daunting task of attempting to win 4 straight...
