MLB Injury News:
The Los Angeles Dodgers lost outfielder Yasiel Puig from
last night’s contest due to injury, while another of the team’s outfielders wasn’t
able to suit up at all for the contest with an ailment. Carl Crawford was
scratched from last night’s lineup due to a stiff lower back, according to
Austin Laymance of MLB.com.
Crawford experienced stiffness in his lower back after
taking early batting practice yesterday. It’s been a lingering ailment since
Thursday, and Dodgers manager Don Mattingly opted to give the veteran the night
off as a result of the continued discomfort.
"He tried to hit a little bit today, but it seems like
it's still not quite where he wants it," Mattingly said. "So we'll
just be a little careful and see as he warms up during the course of the game
what he'll be able to do."
Crawford has struggled since being activated from the
disabled list following his hamstring injury. Entering last night’s contest, he
hadn’t started the previous two games and had only gone 2-for-25 at the plate since
his return. To replace Crawford in left field and at the top of the lineup, the
Dodgers used Skip Schumaker.

With the Major League Baseball season more than half over, it's time to unveil my midseason Top 25 Dodgers' prospect list.
There are some new faces, some young faces (Julio Urias, right) and some players who have broken out. There are also some who have fallen from their preseason rank. There wasn't as much an infusion of talent as there was in last year's midseason...
Last night, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig
attempted to play through the hip injury that caused him to exit Thursday’s contest.
He was able to return to the Dodgers’ starting lineup, but he didn’t make it
past the fourth inning. Puig was removed after four frames, as he told
reporters – including Austin Laymance of MLB.com – that his hip was bothering
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been on some kind of roll over the past 20 games with a record of 16-4. The team is looking to get healthy and make a run into the postseason. Manager Don Mattingly answered questions about injuries and the team today before Photo Day at Dodgers Stadium.
“Just a little over a week ago we were talking about having four outfielders and now we only have...
LOS ANGELES The good feelings are still going. Whether it's confidence or timely hitting or a sense that this is how it should have been all along, the Dodgers can't seem to lose.
They get strong pitching one night, exceptional offense another. They win on the road and at home. They find a new star every day.
Their clubhouse is not especially raucous after wins; it seems...
Zack Greinke retired his first 13 batters before finishing with a two-hitter for a win in his fifth straight start and leading the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Colorado Rockies 1-0 on Saturday.
The Dodgers won for the 14th time in 17 games, despite the absence of rookie outfielder Yasiel Puig, who missed his first game since his promotion on June 3 because of a sore left hip. He...
The Yasiel Puig effect and the Dodgers recent hot streak are having an effect on Los Angeles' local ratings. Tuesday's Dodgers-Diamondbacks tilt, a game featuring the top two teams in the NL West, drew a 5.2 rating and 470,000 viewers on KCAL in Los Angeles, the highest on LA network since 2007. The game on Tuesday was also the Dodgers debut of new starting pitcher Ricky...
Phenom Yasiel Puig left the Los Angeles Dodgers' 6-1 win over the Colorado Rockies Thursday night in the seventh inning after experiencing some soreness in his left hip area, manager Don Mattingly said. Puig is considered day to day with the injury according to according to Austin Laymance of MLB.com.
Puig, who went 2-for-4, left the game shortly after his seventh-inning...
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig talked to reporters about not getting into the 2013 All-Star game, and also about staying up way late on Twitter.
Through the first couple months of the season the Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen was a mess. The group as a whole had an ERA of 4.65 which is obviously not helpful when you’re in a good deal of games that are close. It’s hard enough to keep a consistency to a bullpen as it is but when the team’s closer isn’t pitching well for an extended period of time it has a ripple effect...
Maybe what Yasiel Puig needs right now is a day off. He could
probably use it. His aching left hip â the one he
injured running into a wall July 3 at Colorado â
is still not fully recovered. A little rest probably wouldn't hurt.
