Just like every other college football fan, I've seen the news about Johnny Manziel and the life he's leading at the moment. Sure, most of the news Manziel has created on his own. It's not as if University of Texas frats are inviting him to Austin so they can kick him out while someones recording a video of the incident on their cell phone. Well, I hope not anyway. While many people might be a little down on the Aggies this year due to Manziel's adopted Joe Broadway persona, I'm not selling the Aggies.Last year, the Aggies went 11-2, and shocked Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Then Manziel went on to win the Heisman. Then he apparently went crazy. If there's a party he's been to, it's been documented. While Manziel may be seen as living the high life, in a few weeks it's going to be time to get down to the business at hand. Can he do it?I admit, I was skeptical of the Aggies repeating their 2012 performance. Last year was their first in the SEC, and Manziel came out of nowhere. Teams will be gearing up for them this year, and as a team, they won't surprise people like they did last year. But then I looked at their upcoming schedule. They get Alabama again, this time in College Station on September 14th. Vanderbilt, preseason 23rd, comes to them October 26th. And they travel to LSU November 23. Those are the only ranked teams, at this point, that are on their schedule. Before they play 'Bama, they host Rice and Sam Houston State. In fact, they open with four home games before they travel to Arkansas. If Manziel picked a season to play through with a hangover, this is it. The SEC West, save for Alabama, probably isn't going to live up to previous season expectations. Manziel could probably sleepwalk through the season and still have the Aggies in the top 25 at the end of the season. Aside from traditional powers Alabama and LSU, the only team that might threaten TAMU is Mississippi State. Other than that, the rest of that division can be found on in the display case at your local bakery.Sure, Manziel is finding himself, or the party, however you want to put it. But a hungover Manziel this season should provide results just as good or close to a sober Johnny Football.

Johnny Manziel’s father: “I don’t know where the anger comes from.”

Texas A&M kicks off its football season on Aug. 31 against Rice. After a storybook 11-2 season last year, fans are wondering if the Aggies’ Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, Johnny Manziel, is a one hit wonder — or if he has what it takes to lead the team to an even better season — and perhaps a national championship. The pressure on Manziel is overwhelming. He’s the...

Skittles + Beer = Heisman? Johnny Manziel’s dad with the quote of the year

There's a reason why Johnny Manziel played so well in 2012, but would you believe that his father claims it was Skittles and beer that helped him win the Heisman.

Johnny Manziel’s family at odds with Texas A&M, NCAA

ESPN senior writer Wright Thompson's piece on the Manziel family shows a fractured relationship between quarterback, school and the NCAA.

He’s Just A Kid

We live in a society that demands the media delve into celebrities’ lives so we can either share their success or add wood to the fire that has already started. We have TV shows like Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, and TMZ that give us a front row seat into people’s daily lives just so we can be entertained. I mean how desperate have we gotten that our lives are so boring...

Manziel, Romo have similar problems with new found fame

In the history of college football, no player has ever needed the season to start as much Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel. His improbable and meteoric rise to stardom during the 2012 season has afforded him the type of notoriety that most 20-year-olds couldn't fathom. Manziel's remarkable story is still being written, but he's added an ugly chapter this offseason...

Manziel, Clowney headliners in SEC's bid for No. 8

The players are providing the star power in the Southeastern Conference's drive for an eighth-straight national title not those millionaire coaches. Hop in the backseat, Nick Saban and Steve Spurrier, and enjoy the ride. There's plenty of headliners on the field, starting at quarterback with Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel, Alabama's AJ McCarron and Georgia's...

The coaches have spoken, Alabama the team to beat

To the surprise of nobody, perhaps, the Alabama Crimson Tide have been declared the team to beat in the 2013 college football season. The USA Today Coaches Top 25 was released this afternoon and the two-time defending BCS champions from Alabama have been placed on top of the college football poll used in part to determine the BCS Championship Game match-up at the end of the year...
