Game 3 Rangers vs. Mariners Saturday Night Rangers RH Alexi Ogando (2-0, 0.77 ERA) vs. Mariners LH Joe Saunders (1-1, 3.48) The M's look for their second straight victory against the visiting Rangers in Saturday’s third contest of the four-game series. Ogando opened the campaign with strong outings against the Houston and Tampa Bay. He has allowed one run and seven hits in 11 2/3 innings. Saunders typically struggles against Texas as he has a 3-7 record and 6.48 ERA in 11 career starts. He defeated the Astros in his last outing when he tossed 6 1/3 shutout innings, and we all know he loves pitching at Safeco. Let's hope he goes out and gets it done tonight. I expect a bean ball or two tonight as well. Hopefully Saunders delivers. We owe the Rangers about 3 or 4. Yu Darvish Sniffs Him a Fatty--Piece of Wood That Is

Yu Darvish does not appear to be suffering from any sort of sophomore jinx or slump of any kind. Through three games he has 28 Ks, a 2.75 ERA, and came within an out of a perfect game. Not bad; not bad at all. With the team minus its firepower this year with Hamilton gone to La-La land (okay, so maybe it really left about half way through last season) the focus is going to be...

The Mariners may have a new look this year, but trust me, they're the same old Mariners. You know, the ones that continue to break our hearts year after year. Morse and Saunders out, who steps up for the Mariners? www.nwsportsbeat.com NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell is here to ask the question; who will step up with both Michael Saunders, and Michael...

Darvish smells Nelson Cruz's broken bat

Okay, there are a ton of questions related to this GIF, but we’ll try to break it down. We’re not sure if it passes the sniff test. Nelson Cruz broke his bat in the sixth inning of Saturday night’s Rangers-Mariners game, according to GoldAndOrSmith.com. The top half of the bat wound up back in the Rangers’ dugout, the bat was passed to Yu Darvish, and for some reason, he...

Iwakuma outduels Darvish as Rangers tumble

SEATTLE (AP) -- Kyle Seager had a two-run double, Hisashi Iwakuma made it stand with 6 2-3 strong innings, and the Seattle Mariners beat the Texas Rangers 3-1 on Friday night to end a three-game losing streak. Iwakuma (2-0) got the better of his countryman and Texas starter Yu Darvish in the seventh all-time pitching matchup between the pair, both in Japan and the majors. Darvish...

Game 3 Rangers vs. Mariners Saturday recap

Mariners lose game three 3-1 to Rangers at Safeco Joe Saunders gave up one unearned run on three hits over seven innings and there's no way he can be blamed for this tough loss. I'm not sure if Carter Capps can be either. (Insert picture of terrible UMP tonight) Elvis Andrus and Adrian Beltre drove in runs with back-to-back singles in the eighth inning and visiting Texas...

Seattle puts Harang in rotation; Beavan to bullpen

Newly acquired right-hander Aaron Harang is moving into the Seattle Mariners rotation and Blake Beavan is going to the bullpen. Manager Eric Wedge announced the change on Friday before the Mariners game against the Texas Rangers. Harang will make his first start for Seattle on Tuesday night against Detroit. Harang threw a 40-pitch bullpen session for Mariners coaches on Friday...

Fantasy: Top waiver-wire pitcher for April 12

Mixed-league roto owners, looking for a waiver-wire pitcher before Friday's full slate of games? Here's my free-agent choice (citing most 12-team leagues) for one day of fantasy stardom: Hisashi Iwakuma, Mariners (vs. Rangers) 1. In two starts this season, spanning 14 innings, Iwakuma has a 2.57 ERA, 0.43 WHIP and letter-perfect K-BB rate of 100. 2. Of his 32 career appearances...

Morse injured -- out up to a week

Hot News for OF Mike Morse

Michael Morse could miss a week with fractured pinkie

The injuries are piling up for the Seattle Mariners.  Yesterday, Seattle placed Michael Saunders on the disabled list after he made a running catch and slammed into the wall.  Saunders suffered a sprained shoulder and will be out at least two weeks.  Now, the club says Michael Morse could miss a week with a fractured pinkie. Morse was hit by a pitch in last night's contest...
