I can’t say this enough: the only thing in the world that could have pulled me away from watching Ragin’ Cajun Redneck Gators on SyFy last night was the first real, it-actually-counts-someone-please-take-Tim-Tebow-and-Jimmy-Claussen-off-the-field NFL game in 214 days, since the world conspired against Ray Lewis…and the Ravens still won the Super Bowl. Denver’s stomp-down of Baltimore wasn’t the most exciting of contests (it was all downhill from the moment David Duchovny and Sawyer from Lost‘s lovechild, Keith Urban, performed in the same harbor that provided the final resting place for so many Greeks on The Wire, probably), BUT OMG NFL GAMES. Those puppies were really onto something. Anyway, the rest of the league makes their 2013-2014 season debut on Sunday, with the exception of the Eagles, Redskins, Texans, and Chargers, who will distract us from the existence of Under the Dome on Monday, so now’s the time of the year when you’re not ashamed to be a Panthers fan, like I am. Lewis declined invite from Ravens?

For once, Ray Lewis is choosing to excuse himself from the spotlight. Lewis, who retired from the NFL after last year’s Super Bowl, was invited by the Ravens to join the team on the sideline for Thursday night’s season opener against the Broncos in Denver, according to ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio (via Pro Football Talk). The future Hall of Famer reportedly declined the invitation...

Report: Ray Lewis Declined Offer to Join Ravens on Sideline Tonight

It looks like Ray decided to stay out of the spotlight. For once. According to reports, Lewis was invited by the Ravens to be with the team on the sidelines but declined saying he wanted to “focus on his family.” Ray will still be part of the festivities tonight though at Mile High on the Jumbotron, which will show a video of former players from each of the 32 NFL teams counting...

Adam Schefter Did The Ray Lewis Dance

Adam Schefter started SportsCenter this morning by coming out to Ray Lewis’ spastic “squirrel” dance. Thanks for that disturbing image, ESPN. Given that Ray Rice has been trying to convince Ray Lewis to make the trip to Denver to fire up the Ravens, let’s just be thankful if this is the only time today we see Ray-Ray’s shtick on display.

Ravens-Broncos Season Opener Live Blog – Second Half

[via]Hey look – Ray Lewis made it to the game after all. By the way, big lulz that non-clear bags are a big problem for the NFL but you can bring a big stabby thing into a stadium with no problem. Granted, it’s plastic, but don’t act like you couldn’t do some damage with that thing if you wanted to.For a quarter, Denver looked feckless with no pass rush nor ability to convert...

Ravens' defense struggles in 49-27 loss to Broncos

Not so long ago, surrendering seven touchdowns in a month was unacceptable in Baltimore, let alone in a game - to one quarterback. These Ravens, though, are far from those Ravens. Retired is Ray Lewis. Gone is Ed Reed. With them - at least for the moment - is that swagger and hard-nosed demeanor on defense, but that wasn't nearly enough against Peyton Manning and the Denver...
