TEAMS:
Houston Texans
Living in Houston, I have gained first hand knowledge about the post traumatic stress that the beaten and defeated fans in town are going through. All you have to do is listen to local radio for longer than three minutes to deduce it yourself.
So when I was asked to come on Yahoo Sports Radio 1560 The Game in Houston to talk Texans about what went wrong and where they should go from here, how could I resist. For the entire interview with hosts John Wessling and Adam Clanton, you can hear the entire conversation by clicking the link below.
Mike Kerns talks Texans on Yahoo Sports Radio
We discuss everything from the Schaub Conundrum, the now porous defense and where the team can go in the draft and free agency during the offseason. There might even be a brief discussion about The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and…Death Cab for Cutie? Enjoy.

Texans leaving the door open to draft a quarterback
Even though the Houston Texans claim Matt Schaub is their starter going into next season, it doesn’t mean they won’t select a quarterback in April’s draft. It certainly sounded like Texans head coach Gary Kubiak left the door open. “Well, we always look at everything,” Kubiak said in his season-ending press conference on Monday. Our sources wouldn’t rule out the possibility...
Cornerback Jonathan Joseph needs a check up from the neck up: “I think we were a better team”
The Houston Texans are so last week, but one last laugh at the cost of the other team in Texas. Cornerback Jonathan Joseph doesn’t believe the New England Patriots are better than his team. The NFL should get someone running with one of those little cups and get a sample, Joseph must be on drugs. After the Patriots smashed the Texans to a point of almost virtual collapse in December...
Texans' offseason priorities after best season
The 2012 season was, by all objective measures, the best in Houston Texans history. They went 13-5. Their quarterback threw for 4,000 yards. Their running back ran for 1,400. One of their defensive linemen recorded one of the best seasons ever recorded by a defensive lineman.
All that, and they were a mile away from beating the New England Patriots. So as the offseason begins, the...
Gary Kubiak believes in Matt Schaub
Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak wants everyone to know that there will not a quarterback competition come next season. Matt Schaub is their unquestioned QB.
"I believe in Matt. He's the quarterback of our football team. I've got no doubt about him," Kubiak said Monday via Tania Ganulia of the Houston Chronicle.
J.J. Watt is also leading the charge in...
Grading the 2012 Texans’ Rookies
The season is over and now it is time to look at the Houston Texans rookies and give our grades for them this season.
The Draft Picks
Jared Crick- A spot player but made the defensive line rotation after Tim Jamison went down for the season with an injury. He showed he can play against the run and played both defensive end and nose tackle this season. Still some learning...
Houston Texans Sticking with Quarterback Matt Schaub
Many have questioned whether or not the Houston Texans
should continue to commit to Matt Schaub as their starting quarterback. Coach
Gary Kubiak did just that yesterday, telling reporters, including Tania Ganguli
of The Houston Chronicle, that Schaub is the quarterback of the Texans, and
that he has no doubts in his signal caller.
"I believe in Matt. He's the quarterback...
Andre Johnson Catches Up With Blake Griffin And Johnny Football
I’m on vacation Juan…
Andre Johnson and the Texans put up the best fight they could have last weekend, but the Dark Hoodie and his best student Tom Brady took care of business. Looks like he is already enjoying the offseason.

Kubiak backs Schaub as Texans' 2013 QB
Because he's the quarterback, Matt Schaub is being targeted for most of the criticism by fans and media over the Houston Texans losing 41-28 to the New England Patriots on Saturday and exiting in the second round of the playoffs for the second consecutive year. No matter how much fans and media howl for a new quarterback, it's not going to happen. And it has nothing to...
Texans so close, yet so far after playoff loss
The Houston Texans are in one of the rarest positions in sports. They are good, but not good enough. They need to get better, but they can't make any big changes.
As Texans' seasons have gone from being about just making the playoffs to being about winning the Super Bowl, the Texans have experienced the magnifying effects of success and expectation. Rapidly, the answer...
Luv Ya Steel Blue: Texans Exodus
With the Texans making their exit from the 2012 season, the crew is back together to talk about what went wrong, what is fixable and what has to change with this club headed forward. The Texans QB troubles, defensive woes and questionable coaching are all hot button issues that garner some mild disagreement between the four. All of this plus the action around the NFL on this week’s...
Coach Gary Kubiak Supports Texans QB Matt Schaub After Playoff Loss
Coach Gary Kubiak continued his defense of Matt Schaub the day after the Texans were eliminated in the divisional round of the playoffs for the second consecutive year.
In Sundays 41-28 loss at New England, Schaub was 34-of-51 for 343 yards and two touchdowns. He threw one interception and was sacked once when the ball slipped out of his hand.
I believe in Matt, Kubiak...
Jonathan Joseph thinks the Texans are better than the Patriots...still
I really can't come up with any possible reason why any player on the Texans would think they were better than the Patriots. After the first game, which the Texans lost 42-14, I was of the mind that maybe the Texans weren't as bad as that seemed. Then, in the playoffs, the Texans held the Patriots to just one fewer point.
I think that speaks for itself and proved to the...
Johnathan Joseph Says Texans Not Far Away From Patriots
At least one member of the Houston Texans still isn't sold on the New England Patriots.
Texans cornerback Johnathan Joseph played in both losses to the Patriots this season, a pair of ugly wipeouts in which New England outscored Houston 83-42. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was almost perfect in those games, throwing for 640 yards and seven touchdowns without an interception...
