Found May 23, 2013 on Kissing Suzy Kolber:
Tony Romo had his first long go with the press since signing his $108 million extension with the Cowboys this week, handing out the the same old platitudes about “haven’t achieved our goals” and “love this organization” Dallas fans have been hearing for years under Jerry Jones and their oft-criticized quarterback. Then there was this: “We were 8-8. That feels average. I don’t like being an average football team. I don’t like being an average quarterback who is a part of 8-8. I feel like we’re better than that. But that’s the thing, despite being the starting quarterback on a —  if not the –  premiere NFL franchise, everything about Tony Romo just feels pretty average. Nothing about him seems larger than life like a LeBron James, Derek Jeter or Sidney Crosby. Even the frumpy, toe-haired Wayne Rooney seems more glamorous than Tony Romo. We started to email about this last night, coming to the conclusion Romo should be happy with 8-8, because well, he is rather average. Our argument

Report: Tony Romo probably won’t be ready for mini-camp

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo probably won’t be healthy enough to participate in mini-camp after undergoing back surgery to remove a cyst. My understanding is #Cowboys are fine bringing Romo back slowly. No decision was made. But was told he probably won’t be back for minicamp — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) May 21, 2013 Romo...

Secretive Romo procedure raises questions

IRVING, Texas In 1998, a Dallas Cowboys quarterback missed a minicamp due to a "minor surgery" to remove something from his back. That was Troy Aikman. This is Tony Romo. In terms of the flood of outrage and humor directed at Romo, who did not participate in the team's OTA's that began Tuesday and who might need a few more weeks to full recover, the difference...

Tony Romo says he’s not an 8-8 quarterback

After two straight seasons of finishing with an 8-8 record, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo believes he’s a better player than what their record has shown. “We were 8-8 the last couple of years, that doesn’t sit well with me,” Romo said, via “I don’t think I’m an 8-8 quarterback. I don’t think this organization is comfortable being 8-8. We’re...

Tony Romo Says He Doesn’t Think He’s an 8-8 Quarterback

I would hope that Romo wouldn’t think he was just average. Romo is being paid like a franchise quarterback, so people are going to expect those type of results. If he just figured that out the Cowboys could be in trouble. “We were 8-8 the last couple of years. That doesn’t sit well with me,” Romo told reporters Tuesday, via ESPNDallas. “I don’t think I’m an 8-8 quarterback...

Tony Romo: I’m Not an 8-8 Quarterback

The slander for Tony Romo was at an all-time high when he signed a new 6-year, $108 million deal with the Dallas Cowboys this off-season. Romo has only won 1 playoff game during his tenure as the Cowboys quarterback, and many questioned whether or not he has what it takes to lead a team to [...]

Tony Romo Will Miss OTAs While Recovering

Cowboys QB Tony Romo will miss OTAs after having a cyst removed from his back last month.Fantasy Spin:This should have no effect on his fantasy value. He'll be ready for training camp and the regular season. Romo finished third in the NFL last season with a career-high 4,903 yards and has thrown at least 26 touchdown passes over his last five healthy seasons. Fantasy owners would...

Tony Romo Underwent Back Surgery

2013 Fantasy Football Preview: Dallas Cowboys

It would appear that everyone on earth is talking about Tony Romo’s back surgery except for Romo, himself. But then again, this is Dallas and well, everything is bigger in “Big D.”The noise, the stadiums, the controversies and of course the contacts. With a quarterback who just signed a new contract in excess of $100 million, if figures that every move Romo makes will be scrutinized...

Undergoing the knife to have a cyst removed from his back, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had better thrive in the ‘Big D’

Days before last month’s draft, embattled Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo underwent surgery to have a cyst removed from his back. Agreeing to a six-year contract extension worth $108 million with Dallas in March, the 33-year-old expects to be medically cleared by June’s mandatory minicamp. Throwing 177 touchdowns, against 91 interceptions, for 25,737 yards since debuting...

Peyton Manning flattered by Jerry Jones' comments

On the same day it was reported that Tony Romo will miss the Dallas Cowboys' organized team activities because of a minor procedure to remove a cyst from his back, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning gave his thoughts on Jerry Jones saying Romo will be putting in "Peyton Manning-type time on the job." "I guess I would take that as a flattering comment. It...

Texans favorites again in AFC South

The Houston Texans are again the favorites to win the AFC South, at least according to the Las Vegas sportsbook Bovada. The overunder on Houston's win total is set at 10.5. Only two teams, the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots, have a higher overunder, both settling in at 11.5. The Dallas Cowboys' number is 8.5, so while that big contract extension may have done...

Cowboys Notebook From Inside OTAs

IRVING, Texas A skillion quickie impressions from the Dallas Cowboys' work at OTAs at Valley Ranch: Tony Romo isn't Peyton Manning. But being sidelined by the cyst-removal surgery didn't prevent him from light sideline throwing or from counseling teammates. He was especially demonstrative in instructing Dez Bryant how to simulate the footwork needed to pretend he'...

Cowboys playoff appearance depends on rushing offense

Hate drives fans to action more than any other emotion in the NFL, and there is probably no franchise more hateful of their quarterback than Dallas Cowboys fans, but Tony Romo doesn’t deserve it. Why you might ask, is because the crucial weakness in the Cowboy’s offense in 2012 was the running game. Anytime the Cowboys rushed more than 21 times a game, they were 8-2 in 2012....
