Kari Lehtonen did his best Julie “The Cat” Gaffney impression Thursday night in Calgary. Lehtonen’s Dallas Stars demolished their hosts, getting four goals from Tyler Seguin and six points from Jamie Benn in a 7-3 rout of the Flames. With Dallas netting the game’s first five goals, the outcome was never really in doubt, granting the Finnish netminder some much-needed chill time in the crease. Lehtonen took that relaxation to a new level — literally — in the game’s closing seconds. Check it out in the GIF below, courtesy of SB Nation. The Stars goaltender may not have had much to do, but Flames goalies Karri Ramo and Reto Berra had a very busy night. Check out all four of Seguin’s goals — one on Ramo, three on Berra — in the video below. Filed under: Headlines, NHL, Zack Cox

Kari Lehtonen: the Dallas Stars’ hidden gem

Dallas Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen certainly entered the NHL the beneficiary of much hype and attention. However, since his early days on a bad Atlanta Thrashers team, the spotlight has greatly diminished. Lehtonen, Stars blank Oilers

With the Dallas getting outplayed by Edmonton in the first half of the game, Shawn Horcoff credited Kari Lehtonen for giving the Stars a chance to get going. Lehtonen stopped 22 shots for his 23rd career shutout as the Stars beat the struggling Oilers 3-0 on Wednesday night. "He's one of the best in the league and he gives us a chance to win like that every night,"...

Stars definitely again on board with Movember

On the ice, things couldn't be better for the Dallas Stars. Less than 24 hours removed from an impressive 7-3 win at Calgary, a game where Tyler Seguin had four goals and captain Jamie Benn finished with six points, the Stars get a well-deserved day off on Friday and will next hit the ice on Sunday at Vancouver to finish their only three-game swing through western Canada of the...

Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn Proving Themselves One of League's Most Potent Duos

Isn't it nice to see a plan come together? When the Dallas Stars acquired Tyler Seguin in July I, like most fans, wrote "Benn + Seguin" on the nearest scrap of paper and then drew a red heart around the outside of it. (Right next to the scratched-out one that said "Benn + Jagr"...) It was the easiest plan in the world. Tyler Seguin was going to be the center...

Eklund: Daley Attracting Interest: Edmonton, Ottawa, Others

Established NHL defensemen with good mobility come at a premium these days. With the explosion of proven defensemen's salaries, that's especially true for players who are signed for years to come at moderate cap hits. Tyler Seguin Scores From Own Zone on One Knee to Clinch Win Over Oilers (Video)

This is a different kind of scoring touch. The Dallas Stars held a one goal lead over the Edmonton Oilers with seconds to go in their Wednesday tilt.  The Oilers were pressing with their young, explosive talent, but Dallas coach Lindy Ruff chose to counter with a young star of his own: Tyler Seguin. Ruff’s decision to play Seguin in a defensive role with seconds remaining on...

Bill Meltzer: Star Gazing: Shades of the Legion of Doom?

Winners of five of their last six games, the Dallas Stars have been playing some very good hockey of late. If that is not sufficiently compelling reason to watch the team play, tracking the development of the team's top line should do the trick. Even before Lindy Ruff promoted 18-year-old rookie Valeri Nichushkin to the top line with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn, it was already...

Stars-Flames Preview

Although they're on a losing streak on their own ice, the Dallas Stars haven't had much trouble finding ways to win on the road lately. Nothing has seemed to go right for the Calgary Flames during their longest skid of the season. The surging Stars will try for their fifth straight road win Thursday night when they visit a Calgary team looking to avoid its fifth consecutive...
