In 17 NASCAR Sprint Cup starts at Pocono Raceway, Kasey Kahne has recorded one win, three top-five finishes and five top-10s. He has two career pole positions at the track and won from the top spot in June 2008 after leading 69 laps. He has completed 99.2 percent of laps attempted and has led 150 laps at the 2.5-mile track. In the June race at Pocono, Kahne battled inside the top 10 before a cut tire sent him to the garage.

QUICK IN QUALIFYING: Kahne ranks as Pocono’s second-best qualifier among active drivers with an average start of 9.0. He started from the outside pole in this race one year ago and has 11 career top-10 starts at the Tricky Triangle. So far in 2012, he ties with Greg Biffle as the best qualifier with an average starting spot of 8.3.

POINTS AFTER INDY: Kahne is now ranked 13th in the championship standings, 64 points behind 10th-place Clint Bowyer. With two wins this season, the driver of the No. 5 Farmers Insurance Chevrolet holds the first wild card position in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

CHASSIS CHOICE: Crew chief Kenny Francis will unload Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 5-724 for Sunday’s race at Pocono. Kahne drove this car to Victory Lane in the 600-mile event at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway in May. He also raced this car at Michigan International Speedway in June.

LOOP DATA: During the last 15 races at Pocono, Kahne ranks fourth for fastest laps run with 176 according to NASCAR loop data. The driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet ranks fifth with 1,267 green-flag passes during the same period. Kahne’s average green-flag speed of 159.485 mph ranks him eighth among drivers in that timeframe.

KEYSTONE STATE CREW MEMBER: Chris Fasulka, gas man on the No. 5 team, hails from nearby Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and calls Pocono his favorite track on the circuit. Fasulka also works as a suspension and brake specialist in the Nos. 5/24 race shop.

HENDRICK AT POCONO: Hendrick Motorsports is the winningest organization at Pocono with 12 Cup victories. In 57 Cup races (185 starts) at the 2.5-mile racetrack, Hendrick Motorsports has gathered 53 top-five finishes and 96 top-10s. With five victories, Jeff Gordon is ranked tied for first among drivers all-time at the Tricky Triangle. Gordon’s 957 laps led are the most among drivers all-time at Pocono.

HENDRICK IN 20: In the first 20 Cup events of the season, Hendrick Motorsports drivers have combined to score six wins, 27 top-five finishes, 48 top-10s and 1,763 laps led. A driver within the organization ranks first in 10 of the 15 season-to-date loop statistics categories, with Jimmie Johnson notably holding a 109.2 driver rating and 912 laps led.

KASEY KAHNE, DRIVER, NO. 5 FARMERS INSURANCE CHEVROLET (ON POCONO RACEWAY.): “We had really good speed at Pocono in June and just had some bad luck on a restart. The track is so smooth and fast now, but you really need rubber down to pass. We easily had a top-10 car last time, so hopefully we have the luck this time.”
