Just a few hours after suffering a gruesome season ending injury, Louisville guard Kevin Ware underwent a successful surgery at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Louisville sports information director Kenny Klein shared the promising news late on Sunday night. Ware had the bone in his knee re-set and the wound from the injury closed. A rod was inserted in his right tibia during approximately two hours of surgery.
Ware will stay in Indianapolis until Tuesday. The team returned back to Louisville on Sunday night, but Rick Pitino stayed in Indianapolis with Kevin. The team is hopeful that Ware will return to Louisville this week and then travel with the team to Atlanta for the Final Four.
Ware received plenty of well wishes from the entire country including a Tweet from Lil Wayne.
