Kobe Bryant is clear about this: He does not like the Celtics, and he never wants to wear green. But that doesn’t mean he won’t get caught fraternizing with the enemy.
Bryant showed an affinity for Boston sports in an interview with ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan before the Lakers got ready to play the Celtics on Thursday night. He shared the distaste he had for the Celtics when he was brought in for a workout in 1996, but he also talked about the close ties he has with some of Boston’s biggest stars. Whether it be Rajon Rondo, to whom Bryant wished a fast recovery, or Paul Pierce, with whom he’s tangled and talked trash many times, Bryant had respect for his foes on the C’s.
But his favorite Boston sports figures by far are with the Patriots.
In what Bryant said was “one of the lowest moments of my career,” he recalled losing the 2008 NBA Finals at TD Garden, when the Celtics routed the Lakers 131-92. At that point, Bryant had only ever won a championship with Shaquille O’Neal, and he sai...

Yesterday, Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant posted an old photo from 1996 of his workout with the Boston Celtics on Twitter. For you Celtic fans who dreamed of having Kobe Bryant in the green and white, this is the closest that you're going to get:
The Lakers pulled it out in Charlotte on Friday night to bounce back from the beatdown that the Celtics gave them – must be something going on that says LA teams had to suffer an embarrassing nationally televised drubbing because that’s also what happened to the Clippers in Miami on Friday night.
Kobe decided when he got to Miami that he wanted to show you that his skills on...

Kobe Bryant delivered one of the most emphatic dunks of the season Tuesday night in Brooklyn, even drawing MVP chants from the Barclay’s Center crowd. So, how did it feel? Magic Mamba gave a biblical reference post-game.
According to the Los Angeles Times:
“I was pretty shocked that the lane was so wide open,” Bryant said after the game. “I think that everybody’s been...
Kobe Bryant shrugged off a scoreless first half to finish with 20 points, eight assists and seven rebounds Friday night as the Los Angeles Lakers overcame a 20-point second-half deficit and beat the Charlotte Bobcats, 100-93.
The Lakers avoided a costly defeat to the NBA's worst team and pulled within three games of .500.
Bryant attempted only two shots in the first half and...
Kobe Bryant looked like he had an extra boost in his protein smoothie yesterday. As the Lakers took on the Brooklyn Nets on their home court, Bryant took it upon himself to break [...]
The Los Angeles Lakers are struggling but Kobe Bryant is not. In the Lakers 92 -83 win over the Brooklyn Nets, we had a flash back to the young Kobe. Late in the 4th quarter with the game tied at 80 it was time for Bryant to take over. Bryant just drove right down the lane and he dunked over Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries. The Lakers finished the game on 10 -3 run after the Bryant...
One of the things that made Michael Jordan so great is he had a burning desire to be great. It was almost like an obsession. His competitive nature was legendary and something that not many could live up to.
Kobe Bryant shares this type of obsession, he wants Dwight Howard to have it as well, but Dwight isn’t wired that way. He’s wired in a more clownish way.
With that being...
Dwight Howard responded Thursday to Kobe Bryant and others who have questioned him regarding his shoulder injury, telling them to back off.
Howard re-aggravated his shoulder injury last week and has missed the team’s past three games. He said after the Lakers’ win at Brooklyn Tuesday that he is “not in any rush” to return until his injury heals. Bryant wants to see some...
The Lakers are an entertaining bunch.
Dwight Howard vs. Kobe Bryant is the closest we will get to Pacquiao vs. Mayweather. Kobe essentially said Dwight is a sensitive clown who needs to play hurt.
Here was Dwight reply to that courtesy of Pro Basketball Talk.
“That’s his opinion. That’s it. He’s not a doctor, I’m not a doctor.”’
“”I want to play, I mean, why wouldn’t...
Kobe Bryant had 21 points and eight rebounds, and the Los Angeles Lakers overcame the absences of Dwight Howard and Metta World Peace, and the loss of Pau Gasol to beat the Brooklyn Nets 92-83 on Tuesday night.
Antawn Jamison, starting for the suspended World Peace, made the go-ahead basket during a closing 14-3 run for the Lakers, who have won three straight and six of their last...
Just going off of personalities, it would be easy to conclude that Lakers guard Kobe Bryant and New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick would have little in-common. Bryant has never been known to hold his tongue and Belichick is notoriously known for never having much to say. No way the two could ever end [...]
Even after 14 All-Star seasons, Kobe Bryant has been called just about everything while visiting an NBA opponent's building. But one thing he is usually never called outside the comfy confines of Staple Center is, "M-V-P!."
Bryant didn't hear the chant only once during the Lakers game against the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center Tuesday night — but three...
