Melzer Falls to Qualifier in Auckland

  (January 8, 2013) No. 29 Jurgen Melzer was knocked out of Auckland by the 373rd-ranked Greg Jones 7-6 (7), 6-2. Jones who had to win three matches to qualify for the tournament, had to come back from 4-6 down in the first set tiebreak. “It’s a pretty good feeling,” said Jones. “I had a pretty rough year last year, which my ranking shows.
