Found February 21, 2013 on Awful Announcing:
NBC's Mike Milbury is no stranger to controversial comments. In fact, viewers have become so accustomed to his antics that it takes something pretty special to break through and stir things up. As if he was aware of this fact, Milbury described Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin as "crack addicts" when referring to their play in the offensive zone.  Probably not the best analogy there, Mike. We're not sure how exactly two hockey players that enjoy lighting the lamp for their team has anything to do with a serious drug addiction. We get it - they're "addicted" to offense. Why not just say that? The analogy here was just another awkward joke (a failed joke, at that) that you can add to the growing library of illogical Milbury sound bites.  (H/T Yahoo! NBC's Mike Milbury calls Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin 'crack addicts' (Video)

During the second intermission of Wednesday night's NHL game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers, NBC analyst Mike Milbury was looking for a clever analogy to describe the style of offense played by Penguins centers Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. However, Milbury probably could have (and should have) used a better phrase than "crack addicts"....
CAN'T GET ENOUGH

Analyst's odd words to describe Crosby, Malkin

Analysts of any sport are paid to use intelligent words when describing the games, players, coaches, etc.  NBC Sports Network’s Mike Milbury shouldn’t get paid much.  During Wednesday’s Flyers/Penguins game while describing how Penguins’ studs Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin can’t get enough of scoring goals and making plays on offense, he used a term that doesn’t fit...

Mike Milbury Compares Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin to ‘Crack Addicts’ to Describe Their Play (Video)

Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin are two of the most aggressive offensive players in the NHL, and NBC Sports analyst Mike Milbury found a new way to describe that offensive hunger on Wednesday night. The outspoken analyst has a unique way of giving hot hockey takes, and Wednesday night was no different, as Milbury used what’s usually looked at as an insult to describe the Pittsburgh...

During last night's Flyers Penguins game, NBC Sports' Mike Millbury describes Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin as not being able to get enough of scoring goals and making plays on offense. You know,... Full story at Bob's Blitz ~ http://www.bobsblitz.com

Evgeni Malkin injured after slamming into the boards

Before the discussion even comes up, lets make it clear that this was not a dirty hit by Florida Panthers defenseman Erik Gudbranson.  It was a completely legal hit, and this was just a casualty of both players being very big, skating very fast and being close to the boards. Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin was driving wide in the third period to try and get a shot.  As...

VIDEO: Evgeni Malkin crashes into the boards and it looks bad

God no. Malkin has not returned to the game, even though it is late in the third. ****.

Malkin hurt after being going into boards

For anyone that wants to question the toughness of Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin, they might want to check out this clip from the Penguins/Panthers game on this Friday night. In the third period of play, Malkin was knocked hard into the boards by Florida defenseman Erik Gudbranson and keep an eye on his neck as it snaps back from the collision: Malkin's current...

REPORT: Malkin experiencing concussion like symptoms. GIF here.

Rob Rossi had it this morning: Evgeni Malkin is experiencing concussion symptoms, including severe headache and mild disorientation, multiple sources confirmed Saturday. Malkin was injured early in the third period of the Penguins’ win over Florida at Consol Energy Center on Friday. He did not finish the game after sliding into the end-zone boards. The back of his...

What We Expect from the Media Regarding Malkin's Concussion

The following is how we fully expect the media (and some fans) to react regarding Evgeni Malkin's concussion. This is not our opinion. This is a joke. Evgeni Malkin is experiencing concussion symptoms. Or so we're told. Of course, Malkin hasn't spoken to the media directly about the injury. It's just another sign that the Russian star doesn't "get...

Video: Malkin Hit Into Boards by Florida’s Gudbranson Doesn’t Return

Evgeni Malkin got thrown into the boards by Florida’s Erik Gudbranson with 15 minutes left in the third Period and didn’t return.  It looked like he may have gotten whiplash. He also looked a little woozy as he headed to the locker room. The Pens went on to score two goals after he left and won the game 3-1. © Doug MacRay for Pittsburgh Penguins - PenguinPoop Blog...

John Toperzer: Evgeni Malkin Out Sunday & Possibly Longer

Initial reports on Malkin injury not encouraging From high atop the Consol Energy Center press box Friday night, I initially believed that Paul Martin had suffered an injury after colliding with Tomas Fleischmann and the boards behind the Florida goal. Boy was I wrong. Evgeni Malkin was checked “violently,” as described by ROOT announcer Bob Errey, into the boards...

Penguins beat Panthers; Lose Malkin

The Pittsburgh Penguins rebounded from a crushing loss on Wednesday to defeat the Florida Panthers 3-1, Friday night at Consol Energy Center. The bigger story, however, is the loss of Evgeni Malkin who crashed crazily into the boards behind the Florida net early in the third period. The reigning MVP and scoring champion skated off the ice on his own power, but never returned to...

Eklund: Malkin Apparently Concussed

As soon as I saw the way Evgeni Malkin's head snapped back on that hit by Florida's Eric Gudbranson last night, I suspected that the next update on his status would be what came today: he's almost definitely out for tomorrow's game against Tampa and there is no way at this point to predict a return date. Tough hit by Gudbranson but not a dirty one. I've been...

RECAP: Collateral Damage. PENS WIN.

Wednesday night, we were all treated to a great hockey game. Friday night, we got an ordinary one. No one would talk about this game ever again if it weren't for an apparent big-time injury to Evgeni Malkin. Malkin went crashing into the boards early in the third period. It looked horrible.    This game had a good pace to it at the beginning, but Florida was...

Even Strength Goals A Problem For The Oilers

from Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail, Trying to assess when a rebuilding team is ready to make that great leap forward is always a tricky suspect business. Usually, improvements occur in small increments and are often hard to detect, and then it all comes together in one big push forward. The Pittsburgh Penguins did it in the second year of the Sidney Crosby era, jumping...
