Jameson Taillon gets the start for Altoona tonight. Barring an unlikely promotion to Indianapolis for the playoffs, this will be his last game of the season. The DSL Pirates1 won the second round of their playoffs yesterday and will now go on to play the winner of the Yankees/Angels series in a best of three series for the DSL championship. The start date of that series is tentatively scheduled for Monday. The GCL Pirates won the GCL championship Wednesday. Taillon looks to continue his scoreless streak for Altoona

Triple-A: Indianapolis (85-55) @ Toledo (59-81) 7:15pm
Probable starter: Rick VandenHurk (12-5 3.07)

Rick VandenHurk will make his 19th start for Indianapolis tonight. He has also made two relief appearances and made a rehab start while with Bradenton early in the season. For Indy, Rick has pitched a total of 117.1 innings, allowing 109 hits, eight homers, 35 walks and he has 107 strikeouts, with a 1.16 GO/AO ratio. In his last start, he gave up two runs on five hits and one walk in five innings. In his previous two starts combined, Rick allowed just one earned run over 15.1 innings. He last faced Toledo on 7/20, allowing three runs on six hits over seven innings of work.

Double-A: Altoona (68-70) @ Erie (57-80) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Jameson Taillon (2-0 0.00)

Yesterday’s Result:   Altoona  6 Akron 4

Jameson Taillon will get his third start since being called up from Bradenton. He has not allowed a run in 11 innings, giving up just five base hits and no walks, with 13 strikeouts. For Bradenton, he was 6-8 3.82 in 23 starts, throwing 125 innings, with 109 hits allowed, ten homers, 37 walks and he had 98 strikeouts. Jameson has a 1.04 GO/AO ratio on the year, and a .224 BAA. He was named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for his two performances last week.

High-A: Bradenton (60-74 overall 31-33 2nd half) @ St Lucie (80-52 overall 31-33 2nd half) 6:30pm
Probable starter: Jhonathan Ramos (6-2 4.09)

Yesterday’s Result:  St Lucie 5 Bradenton 1

Jhonathan Ramos will make his third start of the season tonight. He has pitched 35 times in relief, 13 with Altoona and 22 times for Bradenton. In his first start on 8/12, he allowed two runs on three hits and a walk, in four innings. In his last start six days ago, he allowed just one run on three hits over six innings. On the year, he has pitched a total of 75.2 innings, allowing 65 hits, seven homers, 26 walks and he has 46 strikeouts, with a 1.07 GO/AO ratio and a .230 BAA.

Low-A: West Virginia (58-77 overall 35-30 2nd half) vs Delmarva (51-83 overall 22-42 2nd half) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Nick Kingham (6-8 4.50)

Yesterday’s Result: Charleston 7 West Virginia 2 (completion of suspended game) West Virginia 7 Charleston 1 (game two)

Nick Kingham will make his 27th start of the year. He has pitched a total of 120 innings, giving up 110 hits, 15 homers, 36 walks and he has 108 strikeouts, with a 1.19 GO/AO ratio and a .246 BAA. He had a 5.22 ERA prior to the All-Star break and a 3.82 mark since. In the month of August, he is 3-1 2.13 in five starts. Nick is 1-5 3.35 at home this year in ten starts. With four games left on the West Virginia schedule, he will be making his last start of the season.

Short Season A: State College (32-38) vs Jamestown (30-39) 7:05pm
Probable Starter: Clay Holmes (5-3 1.99)

Yesterday’s Result:   State College 4 Jamestown 2 (game one) Jamestown 2 State College 1 (game two)

Clay Holmes will make his 13th start of the season tonight. He has pitched a total of 54.1 innings, allowing 29 hits, one homer, 29 walks and he has 33 strikeouts. Clay has a 1.42 GO/AO ratio and a .161 BAA. After two straight rough outings, Holmes rebounded in his last start(against Jamestown) to throw five shutout innings, allowing just two hits and one walk. He also pitched against Jamestown on 8/12, giving up three runs on five walks and a hit in 1.1 innings, his shortest start of the year. Clay has recorded just one strikeout in each of his last three outings.
