Lots of buzz around Cavalier-land today because of post-game comments made by Kyrie Irving about his knee last night.
Kyrie was asked if the knee was still bothering him and he replied “I’m trying not to let it bother me, but it’s still bruised. Just playing through it. It is what it is. Probably the only way that it would get better is to sit out the rest of the season, and I’m not doing that.”
At shoot around, Coach Scott was asked about Irving’s injury, and he said that seeing Kyrie’s clip this morning was the first he’d heard of this. He was pressed if Irving could be shut down, to which he responded-
“If it’s bothering him to a point where it’s bothering him enough that he can’t perform the way I know he’s capable of performing, yeah.”
Later he added-
“If he is hurt, I don’t want him out there playing. I don’t want him going at 50%”
The coach said he would check with the athletic trainer Max Benton for the update on Kyrie’s condition before making any determinations.
