Back on Wednesday, NBA referee Bill Kennedy calling the Los Angeles Lakers/San Antonio Spurs game on ESPN might have provided us with proof of the first-ever referee stall. In the fourth quarter of play, Kennedy went over to talk to head coaches Mike D'Antoni and Gregg Popovich during a stoppage of play.During his meeting, Kennedy forgets that his microphone is turned on and admits that he's stalling to get to the commercial break:  (Courtesy of It's Always Sunny in Detroit)

Kobe and Vanessa call off divorce

It didn't look too promising for the tumultuous Bryant marriage of late, but now Kobe's better half has let the world know that things might workout for these crazy kids after all.

Vanessa Bryant sells 1 of her 3 Newport Beach mansions

Vanessa Bryant has sold one of the three homes Kobe Bryant signed over to her at the start of their divorce proceedings last year. The 6,000 sq foot home is the former residence of Vanessa mother, Sofia. The couple purchased the property in 2003 for $2.65 million As far as the divorce, the proceedings are [...]

Lakers Executive Jim Buss: “We’re Not Going To Panic”

Lakers executive Jim Buss spoke with John Ireland and Ramona Shelburne on 710 ESPN radio Thursday where he primarily blamed injuries for the team’s 15-20 start. Here’s some of the transcript via Eric Pincus, Los Angeles Times. Does the team need to make the playoffs to persuade Howard, who will be a free agent this summer, to stay long-term? “If we make the playoffs, that means...

Steve Nash Doesn’t Seem To Optimistic About This Season

This quote from Steve Nash himself, can’t be good for Laker fans to hear: “I think three or four weeks ago, people would have said, ‘Oh, it will get better, right now, I definitely don’t think there’s a guarantee it will, so the only remedy is to continue to work hard and give yourself a chance for it to get better…. “I obviously think with time — and that might mean...

Spurs’ Matt Bonner Shows Off Collection Of Trick Shots

Apparently this video was made to spread the word about Canada Basketball’s 90th Anniversary as Spurs’ sharp shooter Matt Bonner shows off an arsenal of trick shots in the team’s practice facility in addition to some pretty epic celebration moves.

Video: Nash is sweaty but World Peace doesn't mind

Steve Nash and Metta World Peace have only been teammates for a few games but already their bond is tight. Perhaps a bit too tight. During the Lakers recent loss to the Rockets, Nash needed to dry off a bit which included his sweaty, damp, and probably smelly armpits. Not a problem, any athelete needs to dry off. It is understandable but what isn't is when same player hands...

Jeff Van Gundy calls out Dwight Howard

While many media members buddy up with Dwight Howard because of his outgoing personality, Jeff Van Gundy is not falling for the act. Van Gundy believes that Howard got his brother, former Magic coach Stan Van Gundy, fired in Orlando, and he’s not afraid to call out Howard when he feels it is necessary. During the second quarter of Friday’s Oklahoma City Thunder-Los Angeles Lakers...

San Antonio Spurs End 2012 With 82-37 Record

Eighty-two wins and 37 losses in a calendar year is not bad for some old guys. But there’s no championship or NBA Finals appearance to show for it, so far. The strike-shortened season of 2011-12 created an unusual schedule, with games bundled more closely on the sports calendar. The Spurs were 47-15 in the regular season (50-16 overall, counting games before 2012 began) and 10...

Referee Bill Kennedy admits ‘I’m stalling right now’ as Lakers-Spurs were supposed to have TV timeout

NBA fans watching the Los Angeles Lakers-San Antonio Spurs game on Wednesday caught a glimpse of what goes on behind-the-scenes during a typical TV timeout. With 5:09 left in the game and a break in the action, ESPN ran a promo for the second game of its double-header. The teams lined up for the Spurs to inbound the ball, but the referees stopped to see if they should break for...

Steve Nash Becomes 5th Player to Achieve 10,000 Assist

Tuesday January 8 against the Houston Rockets Steve Nash became 5th all time on the assist list as well as being the only the 5th player all time to notch 10,000 assist. Nash over has a career average of 8.6 assist per game and had led the league in assist [...]

Timberwolves-Spurs Preview

After failing to break out of their road funk despite Tony Parker's heroics, the San Antonio Spurs look to continue their dominance at home. The Spurs appear primed to get back in the win column and capture their 12th straight home victory Sunday night when they meet the slumping Minnesota Timberwolves. San Antonio has won 15 straight home games in the series by an average...

Steve Nash Hits 10,000th Assist – VIDEO

Video: Bill Kennedy stalls for time during Spurs-Lakers

This is one of my favorite non-basketball moments during an NBA broadcast (my favorite is still the “good job, good effort” kid). For those who don’t know, the NBA has scheduled TV time-out in every game somewhere within the 5:00 and 2:00 marks (and 8:00 marks in then 2nd and 4th quarters).  At 5:09, there was some confusion as to whether a time out should have been a TV time...
