First, the world was convinced that Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde punched a woman this past Friday night at a bar in Columbus. Then, we heard that the surveillance video showed nothing of the sort. Now, we’re hearing that Hyde “slapped” the woman. You can’t make this stuff up. Fox 8 News’ Gabe Spiegel, who has been covering the story from its inception, just tweeted that NBC4i’s Mindy Drayer watched the tape and diagrammed what happened for her viewers. Check this out: BREAKING NOW! Mindy Drayer witnessed tape. #CarlosHyde did slap victim. She took 1st swing at him, not clear if she hit him. #OHIOSTATE — GABE SPIEGEL (@GABESPIEGEL) July 24, 2013 Victim covered her face, she ran to friends for comfort. Victim tried to slap him 1st, he ended up slapping her. #ohiostate #carloshyde — GABE SPIEGEL (@GABESPIEGEL) July 24, 2013 Mindy Drayer (NBC) described entire incident w drawing on 6 pm news. Great reporter. Very credible. #ohiostate #carloshyde — GABE SPIEGEL (@GABESPIEGEL) July 24, 2013 Drayer; Not clear if victim landed slap. Clear #carloshyde landed his. Not a punch or elbow. #ohiostate — GABE SPIEGEL (@GABESPIEGEL) July 24, 2013 Drayer witnessed video 4x. Said after argument #Carloshyde turned to walk away when victim tried to hit him but may have missed. #ohiostate — GABE SPIEGEL (@GABESPIEGEL) July 24, 2013 Again, we’re on version three of the story here, so it’s hard to know what to believe at this point. It does make a lot more sense that coach Urban Meyer stayed mum on the topic earlier today at B1G Media Days, however. More as we learn it.
