While no deal is imminent, as formal discussions have yet to take place, the Brooklyn Nets have targeted former Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson as their ideal replacement for the recently fired Avery Johnson, reports Howard Beck of The New York Times. No deal is imminent, no formal discussions have taken place, and it is not even clear that Jackson wants the job. But the search will start with Jackson and only Jackson, according to multiple people monitoring the process.Following the dismissal of Johnson, the Nets have named P.J. Carlesimo as the interim coach. While there has been no timetable set up when it comes to finding a replacement, a person familiar with the search called Jackson the Nets “No. 1 choice.” Jackson has strong ties to New York, as he started his playing career with the Knicks and ended it with the Nets.At this point, all other candidates are considered “distant second choices” until the Nets determine if Phil wants the job, according to Beck.Follow @hoopsinjurynews!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://www.nbainjurynews.com//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs"); var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-34100676-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? Timing not right for Jackson, Nets

Phil Jackson is a very smart man, so he probably already knows this. But in case not, in case he's tempted by the lavish sums the Brooklyn Nets' billionaire owner might fling at him in the coming week or the burning urge to rush into his revenge against the Los Angeles Lakers for hiring someone else this season, here's some sound advice. Do not come back this season...

Nets owner explains firing, watches Brooklyn win

NEW YORK - Brooklyn Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov cut short a skiing vacation in British Columbia to attend to the numerous issues plaguing his team during the previous 13 games. Those problems included 1-on-1 play, a stagnant offense as well as a lack of concentration, and, after seeing it linger too long, the Russian billionaire said he wanted to tackle those issues head-on. ...

Nets Waive Josh Childress

The Brooklyn Nets have requested waivers on small forward Josh Childress, the team announced tonight after its 103-100 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Childress appeared in 14 games for the Nets, averaging 1.0 points and 1.1 rebounds in 7.1 minutes per game. Childress was on a non-guaranteed deal with Brooklyn that would have become guaranteed on January 10th. NEW YORK (AP) -- The Brooklyn Nets gave P.J. Carlesimo a victory in his debut and the Charlotte Bobcats a 17th straight loss, getting 26 points and 11 rebounds from Brook Lopez in a 97-81 rout Friday night. A day after firing Avery Johnson, the Nets played as they did last month, when they were 11-4 and Johnson was Eastern Conference coach of the month. They are just 4-10 in December...

Kris Humphries’ Wife Is Pregnant With Kanye West’s Baby Now

Great. There was a rumor earlier this year that Kim Kardashian was pregnant with Kanye West’s baby, but everyone in her camp of evil harpies denied it because it would have meant that she had been sleeping with West while she was still “happily married” to Brooklyn Nets forward Kris Humphries and then he could have taken her to court and shouted, “Hurrrrr, pay up, derp....

Could Sloan And D-Will Reunite In Brooklyn?

For those of us who have followed or reported on the Association for a while; realize that one can never rule out any scenarios. There have been players, who could not wait to become a Free Agent; to  escape the team they feel stuck on; only to return his original squad later in his career, this time singing praise about the franchise. We have witnessed antagonistic relationships...

Cavaliers-Nets Preview

A soft spot in the schedule is helping P.J. Carlesimo get off to a smooth start as coach of the Brooklyn Nets. One night after the Nets rolled past an opponent that hasn't won in more than a month, Brooklyn hosts a last-place Cleveland Cavaliers club that remains without its best big man Saturday night. That should provide Carlesimo with a good opportunity to improve to 2-0...
