David Wright returned to action in the Grapefruit League for the New York Mets and despite going 0-3, he appears to be on track to be the Mets Opening Day third baseman. Wright has been nursing a strained intracostal muscle injury that he sustained while playing in the World Baseball Classic on March 15.
Wright told reporters that he feels ready for the start of the regular season but he wished he could have had the opprtunity for more at bats in Spring Training.
“I feel about the same, I guess. Of course I would have liked a few more at-bats. But I don’t have that luxury right now. I’ll get the most out of what I can tomorrow and we’ll be ready to go. Right now I feel pretty good considering the circumstances,” Wright told reporters.
The Mets finish up their Spring Training schedule on Sunday as they take on the Baltimore Orioles.

Mets third baseman David Wright and reliever LaTroy Hawkins are excited about their season opener Monday. They got together in the Mets clubhouse and performed a cute little number.
And apparently they didn’t pay up on the blackmail because it’s forever ingrained on the internet.
Daniel Murphy passed the audition and said it was worth the risk.
Murphy, playing for the first time in a major league game this spring because of a strained right intercostal muscle, singled in three at-bats against Washington’s Gio Gonzalez, played five innings and declared himself ready for Opening Day.
Had he kept playing minor league games until Monday and was re-injured...

His days as a Mets pitcher look to be over, and even his career is in question at this point. Here are some quotes from the Mets team:
“You do something for so long and you’re so successful at it, and to have...

One of the more interesting debates that comes up around this time as Spring Training is coming to an end is what will the lineups look like for the upcoming season.
Now of course we don’t know about injuries, call ups, along with unexpected struggles and successes that happen each and every season.
The other thing that happens is that “Spring Training Superstars” get places...
