David Wright returned to action in the Grapefruit League for the New York Mets and despite going 0-3, he appears to be on track to be the Mets Opening Day third baseman. Wright has been nursing a strained intracostal muscle injury that he sustained while playing in the World Baseball Classic on March 15. Wright told reporters that he feels ready for the start of the regular season but he wished he could have had the opprtunity for more at bats in Spring Training. “I feel about the same, I guess. Of course I would have liked a few more at-bats. But I don’t have that luxury right now. I’ll get the most out of what I can tomorrow and we’ll be ready to go. Right now I feel pretty good considering the circumstances,” Wright told reporters. The Mets finish up their Spring Training schedule on Sunday as they take on the Baltimore Orioles.
