The Minnesota hockey squad entered its holiday break on a sour note Saturday, settling for a 4-4 tie against Colorado College, at World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Fourth-ranked Minnesota, now 11-3-3 overall and 6-3-3 in WCHA play, had held a decisive lead through the first 20 minutes Saturday.

Late in Friday's WCHA contest at Colorado College, Minnesota defenseman Justin Holl took a hard crash into the boards, which left a large sheet of glass crashing to the ice in pieces.
That play proved the fourth-ranked Gophers hockey squad isn't going lightly into its upcoming holiday break. So did the outcome of Friday's game, as the Gophers claimed a hardfought 4-2...
The Minnesota Golden Gophers quest to beat other teams who happen to wear maroon and gold continues Saturday night against the USC Trojans in a game no one will see. Following a historic moment in the career of Tubby Smith, history will be on Minnesota's side Tuesday night as it goes for a 16th consecutive victory over North Dakota State and tries to remain undefeated against Summit League teams since 1936.

Tubby Smith isn't quite ready to admit this Minnesota team is playing the best early season basketball of the six he's coached. His squad, however, is making it increasingly difficult to say otherwise.
It's also on the verge of helping Smith achieve a significant milestone.
