NOT SHOCKED, BUT PLEASANTLY SURPRISED.

WOW. All I can say is "Wow".

Just the fact that to beat the RAIDERS, Andrew Luck had to lead a comeback, was enough to put a smile on my face earlier yesterday.

I'm not going nitpick HOW we managed to stay in the game and grab the lead. I could. Lord KNOWS I could, harp on the run game or the 8 penalties and few other things, but it would be nitpicking the small things, while ignoring the most important things.

I've said all offseason that A) any game we won would be hard fought down to the wire, and B) that Special Teams would have to figure prominently. Special Teams DID NOT step up and we fell by 4 points. However I also said that if we're to have a chance in ANY game, we have to manufacture a pass rush, since we have no stud. Today we grabbed 4 sacks from 4 different players, while our "badly depleted" Offensive line surrendered only ONE. (Yes, yes there was some running from our QB.)

The bottom line is RAIDERS who've been hearing all off-season how inferior their roster is, played yesterday with no indication that they believe in that assessment. Banged up O-line; developing, young QB; and a Defense compensating for a weakness on a down by down basis. Nobody played yesterday like they wanted to make use of any of these potential excuses. They played like the game would be decided on the field and not by beat reporters, handicappers, or sports analysts.

To be honest I though it would be a few more weeks before we were THIS competitive. Sometimes it's nice to be wrong.
