The Penguins continue to lock up weapons for the long haul. Hours after agreeing to an eight-year, $58 million extension with high-scoring defenseman Kris Letang, Pittsburgh announced Tuesday night that winger Pascal Dupuis has signed a four-year deal to remain with the team. The Pens will pay Dupuis $3.75 million per year through the 2016-17 season. While playing in the sizable shadows of fellow forwards Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, Dupuis has been one of Pittsburgh’s top offensive players in recent years. The 34-year-old Quebec native ranked third on the team in goals (20) and points (38) this season and led the NHL with a plus-31 rating. Dupuis tied Crosby for the team lead with seven playoff goals through the first two rounds, but he — like the majority of the Penguins’ scorers — was held in check by the Bruins. He managed just one point (an assist) in the Eastern Conference finals. Dupuis spent time with the Wild, Rangers and Thrashers before coming to Pittsburgh via trade midway through the 2007-08 season. He has totaled 175 goals and 199 assists in 798 career games. Photo via Facebook/Pascal Dupuis
