PLAYERS: Mike Pelfrey

According to Andy Martino of the Daily News Mike Pelfrey was discussed as a candidate to lose his roster spot.

In five spring training games Pelfrey has pitched to an 8.59 ERA and that's including the last start which may have saved his job despite being against a AAAA line-up.

I'm at the point with Pelfrey that I no longer trust him and just want to see him move on, to me this is all about his mental tough since I believe he has the talent to be a 2-3 level starting pitcher.

I'm not sure if Pelfrey can pitch in the majors, I do believe that he can't pitch in the majors in New York.  Maybe he can in Minnesota or Cleveland which is why I've said sell him as a change of scenery guy for the last two years.

It does look like Pelfrey is on his way out but it might be an entire season until it happens since he has no value and is owed over 5M.

One team official characterized the recent discussion about cutting Pelfrey as “just what you do in meetings, throwing (stuff) against the wall, and we throw a lot of (stuff) against the wall,” and went on to predict that Pelfrey would have a strong year for the Mets. source Daily News
