Coming off a season in which his Kentucky Wildcats didn’t make the NCAA Tournament, it appears that John Calipari needs a little inspiration to get his team back to the promised land. Naturally, he sought out the manager of the current best team in Major League Baseball, Clint Hurdle of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Hurdle knows all about turning a bad team into a contender — the Pirates haven’t had a winning season since 1992, but currently sport the league’s top record — quite an impressive turnaround. It appears that Calipari is in Pittsburgh for tonight’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals, and he took a picture with Hurdle: Pirates fans are probably hoping that Calipari also gives Hurdle some advice on how to win the big one — if the Pirates snapped the longest streak of losing seasons in professional sports history by winning the world series, Pittsburgh might explode.
