Making Moves: Lilly moves to pen, Skip suspended, DL moves + 2 promoted, 1 demoted, 1 cut

Ted Lilly, though he would prefer to start, asked to be moved to the pen as he attempts to return from injury. Dodgers left-handed pitcher Ted Lilly, frustrated with his third stint on the disabled list this season, told club officials Tuesday to try him as a reliever. “Ideally, I’d like to be a starter and be effective in that role,” said Lilly. “I’ve had a hard time staying...

Not Another Valdespin Story

This story isn’t about Jordany Valdespin, this story is about the N.Y. Mets and their borderline comical PR machinations. The Mets had another major twist in the Valdespin saga yesterday. On this episode of How the Valde-spins, Jordany was notified that he would be demoted to AAA where he could get regular at bats. Jordany proceeded to have a conniption, a melt-down, a tantrum...

Matt Kemp is injured and on the disabled list yet again, as he’s suffering from irritation in the AC joint of his re-built left shoulder. On the Mets’ alleged pursuit of Andre Ethier

Rumors continue to circulate that the Mets are in the market for a power-hitting outfielder. Giancarlo Stanton – wow, wouldn’t that be great? Carlos Gonzalez – now, that would be exciting! Andre Ethier – wait, wait… what? One of these things is not like the other. In 2009, Ethier hit 31 HR, drove in 106 runs and had an .869 OPS. But, Toto, I don’t think we’re...

Yasiel Puig Shows Exactly Why He's Not an All-Star on Instagram

It had been my plan to not really dive into the shallow pool of the All-Star Final Vote nonsense. To me, the entire process is laden with fraud and high school-like politics. I was content to accept the fact that Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman was voted in by the fans, and that justice had been served, even if it was not in the most dignified way. Then I viewed Yasiel Puig's Instagram
