Dom D's Mets Fan Blog:
The Mets (33-31) lost to the Orioles (29-37) in dramatic fashion at Camden Yards, blowing a one-run lead in the ninth as Aubrey Huff delivered his second straight walk-off hit. This was the second game in a row the bullpen blew a lead late in the game.
Mets Pitching
Livan Hernandez; 7.0 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
Pedro Feliciano (H, 12): 0.1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER
Sean Green (H, 5): 0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 K
Francisco Rodriguez (BS, 2)(L, 1-2): 0.1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
Notables
Alex Cora: 2 for 3, 2 R
Daniel Murphy: 1 for 5, 2B, RBI
Carlos Beltran: 2 for 4, RBI, R
The Good:
- Livan was strong again, and he has really been a solid key in the Mets' rotation.
- Castillo made a couple of fine plays at second base.
- Murphy had a nice, clutch RBI double in the seventh inning.
- Sean Green is still looking good, despite allowing an inherited run to score.
- Frankie blew his first "real" save. I call it that because he didn't really blow that game against the Yankees.
- David Wright is back in his slump again.
- It doesn't get any easier, as the Mets now must play the Rays for three games at home.
- David Wright's swing. What the heck is he doing? If it isn't fixed soon, I say it all falls on HoJo, who has done a less-than-stellar job as the team's hitting coach this season.
Another tough one to swallow, except tonight they actually played a very good game. We all knew Frankie was going to blow one eventually, and to be honest with you, I figured he'd have blown at least three or four by now just because of how he let's things get so interesting.
Bottom line, whether they need a new manager or not, this team needs to get healthy. You can only blame guys like Wright and Beltran for so long, you know? I honestly think the Phillies are going to continue their fall from grace, so if we could take a couple from the Rays, we'd still be in business. Just three games back with the kind of season we're having? Incredible...
