Photo by Michael BaronIt's only been five appearances but it should be noted that Ramon Ramirez is struggling. The 30 y/o right hander came over in the Angel Pagan trade and after posting a 2.62 ERA last season, many felt he was the steal of the deal. But since coming to the Mets Ramirez has struggled, he had a bad spring but unlike Rauch and Francisco who turned it on when the season started, Ramirez has only had one good outing. Opening day in an inning and 1/3 he allowed two hits and a walk while being bailed out by Tim Byrdak. He had a clean game against Washington but then two games later the Nats got to him for a run in an inning off a hit and two walks. His next outing against the Phillies he allowed two runs off three hits in an inning. Then tonight when the Mets were attempting to claw back into the game, Ramirez was tasked with stopping the bleeding and he was unable to do it as he gave up two runs on two hits and a walk in two innings. While it's only five gam...

DISORDER IN THE COURT
In a recent ruling summary, Supreme Court Justice and self-professed Mets fan Elena Kagan took a bit of a shot at her beloved team.
A team source told Andy Martino of the Daily News that a contract extension for David Wright is not on the “front burner” right now, but added that his gut feeling was that a new contract extension would get done.
Today, David Wright eclipsed another franchise record with his three RBI against the Braves this afternoon, tying Darryl Strawberry for the most RBI in Mets history...
Mets are just spoiling us with all this offense including the homeruns. Ike Davis with a three-run homerun to break the game open, and after Jason Bay robbed the Braves of a homerun, hit one himself deep in center field for a solo shot and an insurance run. Broken fingers seem to be helping the Mets.
Dillon Gee had a great start this afternoon allowing only one run on four...
After 10 games, the Mets are 7-3 and one of the surprise teams in all of baseball. Their record is even more impressive when you consider that they are 6-1 against the Braves and Phillies, two teams which have had their way with the Mets in recent seasons and ones expected to compete for the division title while the Mets were supposed to finish in the basement.
But as surprising...
Charles Samuels, the former longtime clubhouse manager for the New York Mets, has been sentenced for criminally possessing almost $2.3 million worth of on-field and game-used Mets memorabilia and collectibles – including autographed jerseys, bats and baseballs – belonging to the Mets organization and for evading city and state taxes.

According to multiple sources, including ESPN and WFAN, the Mets are planning to recognize the nine seasons Jose Reyes spent in Queens when he returns for the first time as a Marlin later this month. The tribute will include a video montage prior to the game.I'm not in love with this idea, but I expect to be in the minority with my opinion. I am also very curious to see what...
The New York Mets' longtime clubhouse manager has been sentenced to five years of probation.
Charlie Samuels admitted in February to having $2.3 million worth of team memorabilia. He pleaded guilty to possessing stolen property and tax fraud.
The 55-year-old is also banned from any Mets facility, even if he buys a ticket.
The team fired Samuels in 2010. He had worked for the...
The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves, 9-3 at Turner Field on Tuesday evening:
Johan Santana started for the Mets and was inefficient over 1 1/3 innings — his shortest outing of his career — allowing six runs (four earned) on four hits and one walk:
Santana had allowed just one earned run over ten innings pitched in his first two starts, but the wheels fell...

The 6-3 Mets are headed to the 5-4 Atlanta Braves tonight, for a re-match of the opening series in which the Braves appeared to sleep through their alarm for the early 1pm games.
The Braves got swept in New York, but since then have won 5 of their last 6 games. So we need to be careful with making assumptions about this week’s series.
Well for starters, the Braves have Chipper...
The weather was lousy. So was R.A. Dickey's knuckleball.
Dickey gave up three homers and eight runs in his worst outing in four years, and the New York Mets ended a .500 trip with a 14-6 loss to the Atlanta Braves.
There was light rain through the early innings, making it more difficult for Dickey to throw his specialty pitch.
''It's like throwing water balloons...
Rookie Tyler Pastornicky belted a two-run double to highlight a five-run second inning and Freddie Freeman also drove in a pair of runs as the host Atlanta Braves posted a 9-3 win over the New York Mets on Tuesday.
The victory was Atlanta's first in five tries versus New York this season.
Freeman capped an 11-pitch at-bat with an RBI double and Pastornicky scored after advancing...
