Via Tampa Bay Rays press release ST. PETERSBURG, FL The Tampa Bay Rays have placed left-handed pitcher David Price on the 15-day disabled list with a left triceps strain. To take his spot on the active roster, the Rays have recalled left-handed pitcher Alex Torres from Triple-A Durham. This is the first DL stint of Prices major league career (2008-13). His start yesterday vs. Boston was cut short when he left the game in the third inning due to the injury. He is 1-4 with a 5.24 ERA (55-IP, 32-ER) in 9 starts this year. Torres, 25, was 2-2 with a 2.39 ERA (37.1-IP, 10-ER), 49 strikeouts, 14 walks and a .190 opponents batting average in seven starts at Triple-A. During major league spring training, the southpaw allowed only one run in 4.2 innings pitched over three appearances and was optioned on March 12. He pitched to a 3.38 ERA (8-IP, 3-ER) over four appearances with the Rays in 2011, his only major league action to date. Over eight minor league seasons, the Venezuela native is 48-36 with a 3.59 ERA and 755 strikeouts.
