Found August 21, 2013 on MLB Injury News:
In the ever-changing world that revolves around Alex Rodriguez, Major League Baseball, and the New York Yankees, it can often become difficult to figure what is to be believed and what is to be cast aside.  So in reality, all reports about Rodriguez should be taken with a  grain of salt.  Disclaimer out of the way, reports have surfaced that Rodriguez rejected what could have been a far more reasonable suspension and can still accept a deal that would suspend him for less games than the current 211-game ban. Bob Nightengale of USA Today says a source close to Rodriguez claims that Rodriguez rejected a 100-game suspension before he was given the 211-game ban.  That source also says ARod could still accept a 150-game ban if he drops his appeal.  Of course, Major League Baseball has denied that claim. Rodriguez is currently appealing his 211-game suspension, has filed a grievance with the league about the Yankees handling of his injury, and has begun the process of starting a malpractice lawsuit against the doctor who initially reviewed his hip after the 2012 season.  So, it's not likely that Rodriguez would accept any deal at this point.  But considering the reports that MLB was ready to suspend ARod for life, it's interesting to hear a report that there may have been a lesser ban on the table. Rodriguez has now played in 12 games this season.  He is hitting .319/.407/.489 with two home runs.  Quite honestly, he has been helping the Yankees' offense greatly.  That puts the organization between  rock and a hard place.  They want so badly to be done with ARod, but they do not want to miss the playoffs.  ARod may be the only player who can help them get over the hump down the stretch and challenge for at least a Wild Card berth. Column: Give A-Rod this much - he's got guts

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By JIM LITKE AP Sports Writer Most guys in his place disappear for a while or else crumple up faster than a napkin. Not Alex Rodriguez. The Red Sox playing beanball was so stupid

I don’t care if this dude is a Red Sox fans. He deserves all the stupid comments thrown his way. Anyways, last night Boston Red Sox pitcher Ryan Dempster tried to plunk Alex Rodriguez because… um… he was involved in Biogenesis? I don’t know. It really doesn’t make sense to me either. He didn’t show up a home-run – also stupid – or badmouth somebody on the Red Sox...
